Beogram 8000 Tone Arm Panel Adjustment

    Hello,

At some point in years past the panel over the tone and sensor arm came off on my Beogram 8000 and I eboxed it back on. I seem to recall I greased the panel mechanism that raises and lowers over the tone arm. I think maybe either that was the wrong thing to have done or something else might need adjusted because the panel drops very quickly when you lower it. Any way to adjust this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    I quote Dillen:

You will have to dismount the hinge.
Press out the steel rod that runs the length of the Beogram, press it leftwards just enough to free the
hinge piece and lift off the alu lid.
Clean off the remains of the old grease. Sometimes contact cleaner is good, but that depends on the
type of cleaner. Then you can add a little kilopoise grease (it's not silicone), just a thin streak on each
inside surface of the damper and put it all back together.

    Enjoy!

There is a damping lever in the middle of the hinge - it is damped using some sticky fluid - this is described as Kilopoise in the service manual and a streak to either side is mentioned in the manual. Never had to do this myself but the lever is a bit sticky so there is certainly something there on mine! Laughing

Thanks to both of you, Chartz and Peter. Smile
