    BM6000 Volume Dial Light

On my BM6000 (80's one) the volume control is a lot dimmer at one end, the full volume end. I see on the circuit diagram in the service manual there are two lamps for this, one at each end I presume. Therefore I reckon that there is a blown bulb on mine. Does any one have any experiance of changing these or know if it is a tricky job. If its too hard I wont bother as I can live with it. If its not too had I will give it a go. Also what type of bulb is it?

    Cheers

    Re: BM6000 Volume Dial Light

    Hi

Bulb type is 6v, 80mA, half watt - still readily available I think.  I replaced one in the BM6000 very recently and this was one of the easier bulb replacement jobs that I have had to do.  If you can solder, give it a go.  If you need any more assistance just ask.

    Regards

    Re: BM6000 Volume Dial Light

    Hi

Correction needed here, I guess I was thinking about the tuning globes.  The globes in the volume indication setup are the larger item, 6v and 1 watt.  The smaller globe was for the tuning indicator.  I have just had a quick look at the BM6000 internals to refresh my memory and yes, it is fairly easy to replace these as follows:

Slide out the centre strip under the display

Remove the glass panel by lifting at the front and pulling forward

Split the casing by undoing two screws and opening up

Release the six or seven black clips on the back of the PCB that hold the facia panel

Ease out the volume slider and take the facia panel off.

This gives good access to both globes

    Have fun

    Regards

    Geoff

Many thanks to all. When I am feeling brave, I will give it a go!

Hey folks, i just completed this procedure using the instructions in this thread....worked a treat, and easier than I thought it would be.

    Thanks Geoff.
