rumours of a two remote abound whilst other dealers say that's impossible... Anyone have any info on this? Would it even be possible without changing the head unit? Does the current head unit have an infrared transmitter to transmit info to a remote? Should one wait for any headunit upgrades? Would welcome any advice especially as prices going up soon...

Not a remote exactly, but there is a "second room" product that will have a GUI. 

The BeoSound 5 isn't changing anytime in the foreseeable future and these add-ons will work with the current units.

IR would not be reliable for a 2 way remote as it is essentially line of sight. However i beleive WiFi would be a feesable alternative and would not require changes to hardware.

This i would welcome, it could even be a iPhone/iTouch application. Like many other manufactureres support.
