BC1 Option Settings to remove external radio link

Second posting on my recently acquired Beocenter 1.

TV was previously part of a linked system with separate audio and Beo 6 LCD TV. The previous owner unfortunately doesn't know enough about how it was all set up (before he removed it all from his apartment and put it into storage.) There is no FM radio on the BC1 but the menus show it was linked to an external radio source. Link option is set to Option 1. According to the manual this was for TV and audio in the same room. (Option 2 is TV and audio in separate rooms, and is the default option when new), option 5 is identical to option 1, option 6- the tv is the only product in the link room. There is no mention of options 3 or 4. I assume I can reset to option 2 by resetting the TV to its defaults (which will unscramble the STB and other connections as well) or I can choose an option through the Beo4 (??)

Is Option 2 also the correct option for when the BC1 is being used as a stand alone unit and will this reactivate the radio? I guess I am looking for some sort of reassurance from those of you who are more expert in these things before I blunder into the service menu options and maybe cause additional problems for myself!

The service counters show that the BC1 radio has never been used (TV has only 30 days video/ dvd use from new.) (Radio days 0, Radio on (T*10) 2). STB module is present and the ML module (TV was linked, ML ref on rear label  and ML socket present and exposed.)

If it was set as a link set, it should be option 6. I would set it to option 2 and see what happens. This will not break anything!! To set options, with the set off, press Stand by and LIST at the same time. Then press LIST until OPTION? is shown and then press GO. Press LIST until V.OPT is shown (it may be the first one shown anyway) and then press 2.

    Peter,

Many thanks. Problem instantly solved and the radio works!

Choosing option2 in the video options not exactly obvious to the uninitiated!!!!!!

while we're here... my BC1 is in option 6, and i prefer to use the radio from the beosound in the other room. But to access it i need to press link av then radio. Is there a way of disabling the radio in the BC1.. or is there a shortcut to the (link av) radio?

    Dave,

Not sure I can help other than to say my BC1 came from a linked system and as you can see on the two threads on this topic my radio was disabled apparently by Option 1 being set in the video options. In the connections menu under Beolink the external radio option was set to  'Yes'. As I don't know exactly what the previous owner had in his linked set-up (other than inclusion of a Beo6 LCD), and as I don't know anything about setting up Beolink or Masterlink etc be careful drawing any conclusions from my experience on this one!

PS I now am in the process of buying from a private eBay seller who responded promptly and convincingly to my queries.

Convincingly enough to get the sale no doubt but could do little else to assist.  Ah, there's always Peter!

The Masterlink handbook is on site by the way - here.

Hi KingofSnake! Yes, as reported in another thread, the seller did respond very convincingly to my queries (and got my sale/ purchase because of that).  The service counter shows that the TV has hardly been use at all in its 4 year life. Unfortunately I could not have anticipated the future need to raise with him an option setting issue that he would not be able to answer. (He was an original purchaser who apparently had so much money from his previous job that he didn't know what to spend it on, hence his under-used under-appreciated system. (Guess there's a link here to the ignorant or connoisseur thread!)

And let me thank Peter again, who unlike some (presumably not knowing the answer or deliberately holding back?????)  pointed out a simple solution to what, for the uninitiated, is a far from obvious options choice. Hopefully this is all part of a learning process suported by the forums!

Actually to be fair, you suggested the answer, I just told you how to do it! I have not had a BC1 myself so the answer is not immediately obvious - I had to do a trawl through some manuals to confirm things - I don't think anyone would not tell you if they knew - it is just a matter of finding someone who has been in the same position! Very pleased it is working !

Re: BC1 Option Settings to remove external radio link

I have been reading this thread with interest as I have a BC1 on my workroom wall which has not been cured of the same affliction.

The service menu reports that there is a radio and the counter suggests that it has been used for 8 days by the previous owner.

Despite all this, I cannot get so much as a hiss out of the thing and nor will it respond to radio on the remote.

I'm not that bothered as I have Sky coupled up to it and the set only cost me £160.

I ought to know how to get it working though, I'm a bloody dealer!!

    Regards Graham

    Peter :

The Masterlink handbook is on site by the way - here.

Unfortunately i don't understand it. Nevermind, just a random question, i'm almost certain it's not possible
