    Beomaster ?

    Hi,

I would like to buy Beomaster 901 or 1500, don't ask me why Smile , I just want to have this peace of beauty ....

My question is how much does it cost in good condition ?

I'm not serious collector, and I don't want to spend to much time repairing it .... and of course it is really important to be cosmetically good.

It is possible to find that kind of Beomaster ?

If anyone have experience with beomaster I would like to hear ....

    Thanks !

The 901 is very common - and should be cheap. Getting one in good condition is trickier. I would not pay more than about £30. The 1500 is quite a rare beast and is the same family as the 2200 and 4400 in electronic design. Not a lot of power - about 25W a channel but a real beauty. Not seen one around for a while but £60 would be tops for me. A 4400 would be an even better one though they can be a bit unreliable!

    Re: Beomaster ?

    I owned two 901s and two 1500s...

As Peter said, the 1500 is certainly the nicer looking unit (especially with rosewood veneer).

On the other hand, the 901 is way more reliable.

I would prefer the 901 if I were you - those are more or less easy to service. But if you have a broken 1500 - and there are almost no fully working units out there (both my 1500s had many broken switches (seems to be very common...rather poor quality) - and you can't get any matching replacements for those...). And opening up a 1500 is the worst procedure ever...one of the things I will never do again.

Cannot disagree with that - the 901 is very reliable - probably why there are so many around. The 1500 sounds better when working though - no huge capacitors around the outputs as it is directly coupled. I would however still suggest that one of the Hi-Fi range is the way to go - a Beomaster 3000-2 is very hard to beat.  Better made as well.

    Re: Beomaster ?

I had a Beocenter 2800 (one of my first pieces of B&O kit), which is essentially a Beomaster 1500 with a turntable. Like most everything I've ever bought, it needed service (the infamous sticking push-buttons and several smaller problems) and I didn't find it that horrible - except for the front panel, which was a royal pain in the derrier, with having to desolder the FM presets and to detach the dial & volume cords to get it off. Definitely not fun.

It was OK performance-wise, but I never liked the looks that much. Finally the turntable lid cracked at the hinge and I had enough - It actually remains the only item I've ever managed to sell! Laughing

That was exactly what I meant. Best thing was one of my "BMs" (I call all of those units BM - they are more or less the same and it's easier that way) was a BC2600...so the front panel was even longer, had more rusted screws and I had to desolder the tape indicators as well... Super Angry

At least I managed to move the remaining working switches from one BM to the other one...by the way, I still have the second one. Kept it as a spares unit - anyone out there who wants it? Laughing

900K yes - my very first piece of B&O from 2007 (just got out of the sauna behind that wall Stick out tongue ) which I'll never sell. That one I found locally at a religious flea market. I have actually two of those nowadays, and one 900M... there are plenty of those on the German eBay, but it can get a bit hit and miss what you're going to get. I've been lucky to have a stereo decoder in all the three I've bought, for example, as well as all correct knobs.

BTW Nikola, if you search the German eBay, you will note that some guy we all know is selling both a 901 and a 1400 (just like 1500, but black metal parts - I think it looks nicer) Wink

You'll have to arrange that nice calm lake I have over here 5 meters from the sauna door as well! Just point out the swans to her, they are romantic as long as you don't get too close Laughing

Regarding that other thing, here's a link to get you started:

    Beomaster 901

I suppose these will end up quite a bit more expensive than Peter's estimates, but at least you wouldn't have to begin your ownership by fixing things...

I think the 1400 is an FM only version of the 1500. I don't think it was sold in the UK.
