Power amp for BeoCenter 2500 and Mission 753s

My striving for my ideal system so far.....

I acquired a Beocenter 2500 with MCLP2 for £200 Smile .  I'd prefer a 2300, but will bide my time..... SWMBO loves the 2500. She has even described it as sexy.... it's got to stayLaughing

I have had for a number of years a pair of Mission 753s. I've compared these with many other speakers including passive Pentas (using an Audiolab 8000A) and so far nothing sounds better (The Pentas were close, but SWMBO said it was her or the Pentas......Unsure)

I am loath to use the MCLP with the Missions as they are power hungry and I don't want to damage them.

It it possible to use a beefier non-B&O power amp - maybe a Quad for example. I don't need any link capability. As I'm typing this I'm thinking would it be possible to use the Audiolab?? Confused

    Cheers

    Nigel

    Hi Nigel

A have a couple of ideas but that depends on  if you are going to use the remote control for the 2500 to control your volume or not and secondly I have to know what kind of connections your Audiolab or Quad has(line in preamp?)

    regards

The Beocenter 2500 is used as a pre amp in B&O systems so the output from the powerlink sockets is essentially a 1 volt volume controlled signal suitable for the QUAD power amps and many others. All you will need is a suitable cable which I am sure you could get from one of our sponsors who's banner appears at the bottom of every page!
