Is it just me, or did the "unknown song" thread disappear?
Anyway, I found a new one I can't find anywhere. At first it seemed like it was from the french movie Amelie, but I don't think it is on the soundtrack. Here is a sample > click.
A lovely melody. Unfortunately I don't know it, but would also be interested to find out now.
...not the answer to your question, specifically, but this is running on apple tv commercials in the states... read the "features" page: basically hold your iphone up to a speaker -and viola! the song!
pretty cool
well, tried to help you out "long-hand..."
artist: Yann Tiersen
99% sure... song: Comptine d'Un Autre Été: L'après Midi
he is on itunes...
Thank you for your effort Jeff, but I don't think this is the same one. Although Amelie soundtrack and Yann Tiersen are great! I must get some of his CDs in the future.
But I think the search for my song still continues...
well then my 1% of "not sure" sounds like a winner, er, ah, ...loser rather!
wow, they sound so similar!
if i get a iphone for xmas -shazam will be my first dload!
I found another song I like. It is used in Citroën's video about their history - you can see it on www.citroen.com. Just click The history of Citroën button.
Or you can just click on the link here to hear the song: click

Shazam on my iPhone tells me it is Alala Ilali (Pot Pourri Medley) by Maurice El Medioni, from the album Pianoriental.
Hope it is right!

Shazam gets confused by any additional sounds, for example in film soundtracks that aren't on the original recording, and there seemed to be some noises going on there that might not be on the original (I've never heard it) so it couldn't get a match. Sorry...
Hi Ray, thanks for your help, I've checked the song and you were right - it's not the one. I'm a bit surprised no one knows what it is, though. I thought it was one of those classic songs that everyone knew but me.
"Walking Away" by The Egg.
Poor me, never win owt!
Sorry, ignore that! I was misled.
