    Power cables for Beosystem 2500

    Help!

I have a Beosystem 2500 with the bracket that enables the Beolabs and the central unit to be bolted together and connected to the mains via one single mains plug.  The  interconnecting power cables between the units are very short with male to female 'figure of eight' plugs/sockets.

I already have long Powerlink 1 cables to enable me to separate the speakers to offer a proper stereo stage for more serious listening, but that means I have to run at least two mains cables to two mains outlets. I have only one mains socket available in the preferred location for the system.

Is anyone aware if I can get mains cables of 2 metres or so with a male figure of eight plug at one and and a female socket at the other?  I have tried local electrical shops and my B&O franchise but to no avail.

    Evening Gents!

It was my understanding that the original male to female mains power cables can no longer be manufactured as they are prohibited under recent EU law (not sure which one).  This is likely to be the same ruling that caused the demise of the 4mm banana plugs commonly seen on hifi amps until recently..... No - thumbs down

I was told that the problem was due to the male plugs having exposed pins that could potentially be live under some (very unlikely) fault conditions.  As a result, I no longer sell any mains cables with male 2pin plugs.

However, you may find that some B&O dealers still have "new old stock" male to female mains cables that they are willing to sell to you?

Otherwise, I would suggest that you consider a separate mains cable for each item (system and speakers) - I keep these in stock in a variety of lengths if you need them.

    Hope this helps,

    Steve.

doesnt the BeoVision 7 use the same male to female power cord, from screen to speaker. your dealer can still order these.

Thanks for the various responses.  The EU legislation sounds horribly plausibe, but I will investigate the BV 7 connection as an option.
