    Powerlink Connections - Basic Question

    Guy's,

    Have I missed something?

I've connected 8 pin powerlink cables from my Beomaster 4500 to my Penta's but I'm getting no sound from either speaker.

However the set up works fine when connected to the Beomaster via 4 pin speaker cables.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Have you set the switches correctly? In particular the Audio/Video switch on the base?

    Peter,

The Penta's are set to Auto on the front panels & Audio underneath the base.

Does the Beomaster require any special set up or are the Penta's settings wrong?

Sound OK - the input switch should be set to the three line position. What colour is the light on the front of the Penta amplifier?

And obviously, have all the units switched off when connecting them up. The old adage of switching it all off and then back again is never wasted!

In standby the lights are red.........

When i turn the amp on and press CD play, the CD plays but the Penta's don't swith on.

When I go back to the 4pin spk cables and repeat the process the Penta's "go green" and power up with sound.

Does it matter which or the 2 available powerlink sockets (on the Penta's) I use?

Should not make any difference. It sounds as though the Pentas are not recognising the signal from the Powerlink sockets. I suggest it may be the switching signal. Are the Powerlink cables fully wired ones?

Those look like thin ones - they will not be fully wired so I would expect there to be no display. Still surprised you get no sound though. Do you have any other B&O active speakers?

    Peter,

    Sorry about the late reply...............

I don't have any other speakers to try so perhaps I'll try a new set of cables.

Seems odd though that the amp will play with speakerlink and not powerlink cables.

Do you think the amp is at fault?

Is there any special set up at the amp end?
