    AVANT 32" VHS tiltled picture

    Hi!

Some months ago i bought a AVANT 32" VHS non RF, and it works like a charm.

That is until now.. The problem is, that when I rotate it using "stand" on the Beo4, the picture tilts 0,5 - 1cm in the left side of the picture.

Its only when i rotate it left, from dead center, the problem occurs.

I've tried looking around the forum for some answers, but without any specific solution :-/

Hope some one can help me as I am deeply in love with this telly!

When you say the picture "tilts", do you mean the whole picture or just the left hand side of the picture ?

Did the problem just appear one day or was it after the AVANT had been physically moved ?

    Regards Keith....

It's only the upper left hand corner that is tilting.

Yes I moved it physically, as I had to make space for a new couch - could this cause the picture to tilt?

I would say that moving the TV has more than likely moved the cables which goes up to the tube area.

You should get an engineer to remove the back and determine if this is the cause.

I have moved the avant to the other end of the room, with the tube pointing the opposite direction.

Now the picture is brilliant and doesn't tilt.

Guess ill have to rearrange the whole room, but at least the avant works (:

Re: AVANT 32" VHS tiltled picture

I had exactly the same problem.

However with our set, it started after being returned from the factory after the tube had blown. I had indicated that the geometry was all wrong as the black lines running down the side of the picture were no longer even in thickness or straight.

I then noticed that if I tilted the TV left and right, the picture curved, as if there was some sort of pull in the picture downwards just on the side it was being tilted. I let it be as I really couldn't be bothered to send it back (another story there), and it's been 7 years since and replaced 2 months ago.

Wish B&O could tell us what it was!

    Magnetically unshielded speakers aside?

Picture tubes get a lot of impact from magnetic fields - even earth's natural ones.

On turning on TV's "demagnetize" the tube to "calibrate" it to the current position.

I used to have lot of fun turning (smaller!) TV sets upside down while powered on; made a lot of coloured fun.

I even used a magnet in front of them to create fancy pictures on the screen - BUT: some were permanent then Angry

Wasn't my TV but it took days to get back to  normal colors; so don't mess with that unless it's ready for scrap.

BTW: My pentas are magnetically unscreened, but they are about 1m aside - and it's a LCD TV Stick out tongue

Interesting point, as I had a pair of 8000's about 75cm away from the telly either side.

    hi

its  surely a problem with a magnetic source to decide that you will also

have wrong colour in the same area.

    regards

I have no speakers or magnetic sources in the near presence of the AVANT.

Jan - I have no wrong colors in the area, its only tilited like Esh described.

Sorry found out the 8000's are sheilded so it couldn't have been them. Although take a look in the articles section at Degaussing and Demagnatising.
