    Penta II Displays

    Hi all,

Just collected pair of virtually mint Penta II's bought via ebay.

Connected them up to a Beosystem 2500 with Power Link cables etc.

Sound is superb - however, I was expecting to be able to get the digital displays....? Nothing!

I am using a 2-way remote (Beolink 5000) if that makes any difference...?

Am I missing something quite obvious..?  Is there some switch I dont know of..? I got the original manual also & it just says displays work when connected using Power-link cables & compatible B&O equipment....

Or maybe my Power-link cables are not capable of data relay..? if so, what do I need to get the displays on..?

    Cheers guys...

You need MkII or sometimes called "fully wired" powerlink cables to make the displays work. No other type will do, no matter what anybody says!

I believe there is also a Audio/Video switch up in the socket area which must be set correctly or the display will be garbage.

    Aahhh cheers Graham,

Didnt actually know there was such a thing as a MkII power-link cable. I shall see if Lifestyle AV has any, if not ebay...or if anyone reading this has any for sale..?

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: Penta II Displays

I made up my own cables from a 100m reel I bought off ebay and 8 pin din connectors available at Maplin.  I should still have some cable left as 100m was more than I needed (Penta IIIs)!  What length are you after?

    Hello Brian,

I just been on the Lifestyle AV site & see that they are selling these 'fully wired' Mk II cables..

I guess I'm just looking for lengths of 3 or 5metres per cable..

    Thanks, Michael

Why noy try www.soundsheavenly.co.uk . I suspect he will be cheaper than Lifestyle and this is the guy that makes them.

    Ok Graham, nice one thanks.

Looks like the prices between them are very similar - i'll get the MkII leads from one or the other.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Penta II Displays

Did you check the Audio/Video switch?  I bought a pair of MkII's which were advertised as defect (display not working) and got them cheap.  Flipped the switch over and hey presto - perfect pair of Penta's with full displays.  You won't be dissappointed with them.

    Good luck.

    Dave.
