    Avant 28 8133

The VTR Chassis was removed and replaced. Now the TV does not seem to recognise the VTR. The three buttons at the top of TV do not work and when playing back a tape I only have blank screen. Anybody out there with knowledge of this problem

Can you confirm the following points about the replacement VTR chassis:-

    1. Did you replace all the link cables including the short SCART cable?
    2. Is the software version of the replacement VTR the same as the one you took out ?

    Regards Keith....

    Try This!
    Press TV MENU

    Select Setup using down button

Press GO 0 0 GO and you are now in the service menu

    Press 4 for V.Tape

Check Chassis variant to see if "Internal VCR" is set to "Yes"

This is for a newer Avant, so I dont know if is exactly the same for yours

    regards...

Keith, thanks for reply. Yes replaced all cables and the VTR deck is same one that came out. The VTR had a blown psu which I eventually repaired (my background is electronics engineering). The VTR functions (play, rewind, stop etc.) are OK when controlled by BEO4 but top buttons do not function meaning you cannot eject tape (I can fiddle this but I wont bother you with the details) and as I said there is only a blank grey screen on playback.

    Regards Ray

mhampen, you got it, many thanks, this did the trick. This was my first post on the forum and resulted in success. I can now get the lounge back to normal which will keep the wife happy. Out of interest the VTR chassis was removed because of a blown PSU. I did component level repairs on this replacing controller i/c and power switching mosfet took some time but revived my old electronics engineering background (now retired). Thanks also to Keith.
