Very nice news, very exciting !

The famous elecronic curtain is back... for my pleasure ! Wink

The floor stand is the new one, more "round" like BV7.

It just miss the motorised option and it will be a winner !! Embarrassed

Does anybody know if this will be offered in the US?

My dealer insists it will not, but I think he just wants me to buy something now vs. later.

Stan, your dealer is unfortunately correct. There is no current plan to release the BeoVision 8-40 here in the US. As far as 40" options, we will get the BeoVision 10, but that will be positioned, in price and features, between the BeoVision 8 & the BeoVision 7. If I were looking for a deal in the US right now I don't think I could pass up the BeoVision 7 MkIII without the DVD player for $5,800. Is has a BeoSystem 3 in it and it's $2,000 less than a BeoSystem 3!!! The BeoVision 10 won't have a DVD player and won't have a full BeoSystem 3 so the BV7 w/o DVD is a steal even though you still need to add speakers.

    Re: BeoVision 8 - 40 prelaunch

Thanks for the info and advice Trip.  Unfortunately, while I can appreciate the "deal", the BV7 is much more than I want/need (and I still need to buy a center speaker, right?  What if I only hook up a pair of BL4000s - is there a sound setting for this?).  I really want a TV with built-in speakers, and I have no need for surround sound (my room would present a very expensive/difficult install ).  I suppose I'll wait and see what the BV10 has to offer...

    Stan,

You can absolutely use a single pair of speakers with the BeoVision 7. We already know what the BeoVision 10 will have to offer and it is decidedly less than the BeoVision 7. Less picture processing, less features, etc. It will still be a dynamite tv, but the discounted BV7 with a set of BeoLab 4000s will only be slightly more than the BeoVision 10 and pack a lot more fire power.

Unfortunately, by the time you even find out what a BeoVision 10 looks like, the BeoVision 7 MkIV will be out and the deals will be gone!

Why in the world would they still be holding products back from the US? They must have a global platform by now and if BV10 comes, I would think that it has the same "internals" as the BV8 40".

Why Why Why .... I was hoping we would even get the BV 6, which I personally love.

    Re: BeoVision 8 - 40 prelaunch

TVs can only have so global a platform. With different tuners and power supplies come slightly different builds, which North America can't currently justify based on the numbers of BeoVision 8s currently selling. You could make (and I certainly have) the chicken and egg argument, but that's the reality.

Perhaps if Kalle can continue to make our production more flexible we can make smaller production runs and thereby get televisions even if they don't sell tremendously at first.

    Re: BeoVision 8 - 40 prelaunch

    Trip,

in your opinion, what is the best panel in the B&O range to get an optimal quality whatever the sources are (HD, SD programs, cable, terrestrial, SD-DVD...).

    What is the best to replace a BV3 (and a size > 40") ?

The BV9 isn't in the competition due to its price.

So, will it be the new BV7-40, the new BV8-40, ... ?

    Re: BeoVision 8 - 40 prelaunch

    Trip,

Ok, maybe you're hooking me...  I haven't really followed pricing on BVs.  Are you saying that BV7 + buying a new set of BL4000s is slightly more than a BV10, or the discounted BV7 mkIII (using the BL4000s I already own) is slightly more than a BV10.

Also, is there a simple stand for placing the BV7 in a cabinet (not motorized and no center speaker) - I don't see anything like this on bang-olufsen.com.
