Beogram TX only plays half an album

I just drug my TX out of storage to put some of my vinyl collection into I-tunes.  When playing the first album the tone arm only traveled half way across the surface when the transport quit moving to the left.  It looks like the transport stops when it reachs the a switch which I assume is the locator for indexing 45 RPM records, although the TX is set for 33 RPM.  What do I do?

    Hi Phil,

Welcome to Beoworld !  Yes - thumbs up

Does it just stop tracking left and skip in the grooves or does it lift the tonearm and return to the park position ?

Thanks for the quick response.  The tone arm continues to track left and begins to skip.  It does not lift and return.

Probably dirt and dust on the threaded carriage shaft or the servo motor belt slipping - or both.

Clean the shaft and lubricate using a little silicone grease and/or replace the servo motor belt.

Turns out it was a piece of tape which had came unstuck after all these years, and the corner was hanging down far enough to stop the tone arm transport as it went into the tunnel on the left side.  It was far enough in that you could only feel it, not see it.  Trimmed it with a pair manacure clippers and all was good.

    Thanks,
