v4.61 on B&O's site requires W2000, XP. Could someone direct me to a Win98 version please.

Whilst I can provide you with earlier versions including:-

• PC2 Version 3.1
• PC2 Version 3.6
• Beoport Version 4.02
• Beoport Version 4.5
• Beoport Version 4.54
• Beoport Version 4.61

I have to say that I would not advise you to use them. Whilst the early versions were intended to work on Windows 98 as well, they lacked the functionality you would expect.

 

I dont have a BeoPort yet, I just wanted to see BeoPlayer first on my old laptop.

I would use the current version of Beoplayer on your XP windows PC to really see the benefits.

If you are concerned that it may cause your system a problem, then I suggest that before you install Beoplayer you go into SYSTEM RESTORE on Windows XP and create a restore point, then install Beoplayer, if subsequently there is a problem or you do not like it, then just use SYSTEM RESTORE to take you back to your previous state.

To start SYSTEM RESTORE under Windows XP press START then ALL PROGRAMS then ACCESSORIES then SYSTEM TOOLS then SYSTEM RESTORE

I should have made myself a bit clearer.

I use a Mac but was planning on running Windows Vista on it for the purpose of being able to use BeoPlayer. The only PC I have is an old laptop with Windows 98 on. I just wanted to see if it was worth using before buying Vista and installing the dreaded operating system on my Mac. However another thread (BeoPlayer - Do you use it?) is not giving the B&O software a good review anyway.

Whilst many have given there views on Beoplayer and you pointed out one such thread, there is nothing better than accessing the product for yourself because what is bad for one person can be great to another.

So, given what you said, I suggest you create a second partition on your hard drive and put Windows XP and not Vista on it and then try Beoplayer and make your own assessment.

Generally speaking, those people who use MAC's for their everyday work tend not to favour Beoplayer, so I will be interested in what you think about it.

I downloaded Beoplayer to try it. I quite like it! (Don't use my computer for music much) Only thing it asked me to register which I did but it seems to want to connect to the net everytime I turn my computer on??? I have to enter my username etc again? Must you be connected to the net to use it?

I need a version of BeoPlayer that will run under Win98SE and upon searching the fora came across this thread.

I'm planning to use an old laptop as a dedicated BeoPlayer machine, via a PC-2 and an Avant.  I tried to install the current BeoPlayer but of course it wouldn't install under WinXP and referred me to the B&O website for a solution.  The website offers no solution for Win98 users.  (Have B&O ever got the hang of PCs and support for them?!)

I see from an earlier post of yours that you can supply earlier versions of Beoplayer.  Please would you email me a version that will install under Win98.

I am aware that the current version (for XP) is better (I've already installed it on my 'general purpose' laptop and on my desktop), but I'm prepared to sacrifice recent improvements for the sake of having it on that old laptop.

hi - can someone pl send me a pc2 ver 3.1   i recently upgraded to beoport but now although i get video on my computer, the audio is gone. b&o tell me that i need to roll back to the 3.1 version of pc2 to get the audio working... go figure.... appreciate any help
