BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
What do U think, which speaker does better match with BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000 or BeoLab 9. I know BeoLab 9 perform better, but somehow can not understand why it is so small? I have red that it was designed to listen to the music when sitting, but is the sound also good when standing or walking arround the room? I think all lens speakers from B&O look somehow strange and appear very weak, except perhaps BeoLab 5 as it is a little bit taller.

Believe me, the BL9s are far from 'small'. They are quite wide at the base and around 70cm high. Once they are in the room, they look rather large. Ok, nothing like the BL5s, but still large. BL9s are far newer technology. The ALT makes a big difference with audio distribution around the room. The bass is substantial too. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by 'appear very weak'. From a performance perspective, it would be hard to better than BL9s for most users.

I think the BL8000 matches the design of the BS9000 better than the BL9. I don't think the BL 9 look weak, even though it is quite small.

Re: BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
I mean that BL9 look week when they stand together with BS9000 as BS9000 is very tall on floor stand and BL8000 are in terms of design more suitable for BS9000. But BL9 performance is very much better. Do BL9 deliver enough bass or is BL2 still needed? I could sell my BL8000+BL2 combo and exchange it with a pair of BL9.

I think the 9s have enough bass. My wife, on the other hand, does not and insists that we have a sub connected also. I think the bass is better without the sub but there is more bass for movies with a sub.

Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

Re: BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
I have both; a pair of BL8000 and BL9's. I think the BL8000 will suite the BeoSound 9000 the best from a style perspective. It is such a beautiful design, which fits the BeoSound 9000 perfectly. They also sound very nice with a nice rounded sound. The BL9s however sounds better. They are a lot more precise and produces a much bigger sound picture. If you like listening to music (sitting/standing and paying attention to the music instead of just having it on in the background) the BL9s are wonderful. Adding the sloppy BL2 to anything will ruin the real music experience. Buttom line: In your case go for the BL8000s.

If sound does matter a little bit to you, don't ask stupid questions, go out and buy a pair of bl9! They just beat the 8000 on everything sonically. If you only listen to 128kbit/s mp3, go for the 8000's

Re: BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
Personally, I now cant live without the bl2. Its crazy amounts of bass for their size, plus if you dont want too much bass, then just reduce the settings and configure it properly. Whilst im not debating that the BL9 is better, i think if you dont have the lab9 and want a bl2, then do it. It gives a whole new meaning to movies, incredible and for sound/music, its fine, once you set it up properly.

BL5 is not a tall speaker. it is shorter than a BL6000 believe it or not... The BL9 is very small for the sound it produces and everytime i see it i'm astonished by it's small size, it's very short. Ever seen a BL9 in white or red? I saw a photo of BL9 in red with the BS9000 and it looked BEAUTIFUL. Personal taste at the end of the day, i prefer the BL9's design rather than the BL8000. It has a cleaner and softer appearance in the living room than the BL8000.

Correct. I've owned both. BL5s are huge as speakers, but aren't particularly tall. They are very heavy though. I only kept the 6000s for 6 months. Didn't like them at all. Sound was fairly average. I've seen the BL9s in white and they were ok. However, I can't see a practical use and, if they are anything like the white BV8, will be a barsteward to keep clean.

The BL8000 sure look better next to the BS9000 than the BL9, but I would prefer the BL9, because of their sound. Can't be compared to BL8000, it's another league!

Re: BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
Both the BL9 and BL5 are relatively small, at least considering the sound they produce. That is one of the things love about them. But the thead starter asked about design, and I think the BL8000 fits wonderfully the design of the BS9000.

Re: BeoLab 9 or BeoLab 8000 design
Let's be clear on this; Is it Beolab9 v Beolab 8000, or beolab 9 v beolab 8000 & Beolab 2?

Me neither ! Maybe cost, or just David's whim .... I was disappointed when they announced BL9 ...
