    BL 8000

Can anyone tell me difference between BL8000 MKI and MKII ?

I heard that MKII is low frequency improvement, but is it really big difference ?

I test it BL4000 MKI and MKII and there is some minor difference and definitely MKI for my ears sounds better ?

Is it the same case with 8000 ?

I did little search over the forum but I couldn’t find it....

    thanks

    Nikola

Hi, the difference is only in a single PCB, but it is IMHO clearly a difference.  If you are intending to use with a Beolab 2 or another subwoofer, then go for the cheaper option, it is down to whether you feel the premium you pay for Mark II speakers is justified.

It was mainly the thermal protection which changed. They do sound different, but I wouldn't really say one sounds better than the other, just different.

It's difficult to say to be honest. The difference was more down to the protection. The mk2 is more reliable if you play at high volumes...

I'm reading here that MKI is little bit less bass, and the bast way to put them with BL2.

Because Bl2 is really expencive, is there any non B&O sub that you would suggest to replace BL2 ?

I will happily admit that I cannot tell the difference in sound between them.

Some peoples says that MKI sounds little shriek at hi volume ....

And that MKII has more bass at low volume...

    But Peter I believe you!

I don't have chance to hear MKI or MKII....

    Peter :
I will happily admit that I cannot tell the difference in sound between them.

Snap Peter, neither can I. I will also admit that my ears are 59 years old which may have something to do with it, although I have always assumed that aural deterioration took place at the top end rather than the bottom.

The Mk2 are fitted with very slightly different drivers which could account for some difference but I am sceptical and prefer to believe that the difference is mostly in the pencils of the marketing department.

I usually adopt the line taken that product 'upgrades' like this are just marketing ploys - but on this occasion admit that the Mark II's sound warmer and more rounded a speaker than the Mark I's due to better bass - to reiterate use with a sub and go for the best value pair you are able to, whether Mark I or II!!!

SmileSmileSmile Same here, I only have Mk1's in house but have listened the Mk2's in store and could not hear any difference. The power led looks better in Mk2 Wink.

I did a side by side comparison with Pentalabs and there you did not need to have golden ears to hear the difference. And the winner was ...
