    DVD 2 failure

My DVD 2 shows failures since a few weeks:

    - The control LED stays green although I shut off the B&O setup

    - Very slow and lagged handling with the Beo4 (even slower than before !!)

    - Timer does not record the scheduled movies

    - Guide plus program survey disappeared from time to time

    - Restart (unplugging power) doesn't solve the problem

    My Setup: BV4 50" (Beosystem 3), Beocenter 2, ...

Does anybody have any suggestions ? Thanks in advance !

Throw it back at the dealer... through the front window of the shop.

Reason: I've yet to see a high-street DVD player/recorder crash!

If you cannot get a sensible estimate from your dealer, I would be happy to take a look at it for you.

    Re: DVD 2 failure

My dealers B&O technician mailed me that a software update is available which may adress the problems. Did anyone have a software-update for the DVD 2 ?

If it worked from the box ... and now does not ... I dont see how a software update will sort this.

Unless of course they are suggesting that the software has been corrupted in the eeprom.  In which case ... just reflashing the original code should solve the problem.

If its under warranty, fine ... if not ... beware what they might charge.

    Re: DVD 2 failure

Here is an update information on the DVD2 issue. It wasn't the DVD2. The strange behavior was due to a software problem in the Beosystem 3. I noticed that the lamp on the IR eye of the BV4 didn't turn red after shut-off. I reseted the Beosystem 3 by unpluging the power cable. After the restart both, DVD2 and Beosystem 3 behaved normal.
