Possible Solution to BV 7 PCM problem

Guys have just recived this from a guy called Dirk on another website.  I will contact my dealer and ask if this can be done and i will info you straight away.  Here is the reply i got......
Hi Mr. Carl, PCM calls "Pulse Code Modulation" or LPCM for "Linear Pulse Code Modulation". The Systems NTSC and/or PAL absolutely needed the PCM (2 channels). A new SW, I mean "Software (7.5)" is now available for the BV 7 to solve this problem Nr. 8 ! Your Dealer can it be update via PUC (or STB)
    Kind regards, Dirk

lets hope and pray it works.

    Carl

    Carl,

Please post your experience once you have updated the software. It would be geat to have a simpler option.

I saw the reply. The bits that come with the software make no mention that it fixes that issue so I will be interested to see if it does!

Re: Possible Solution to BV 7 PCM problem

I would be surprised if this software will give anything more than 2 channel pcm, to get multi channel (5.1 or 7.1) uncompressed pcm requires an hdmi cable because of the amount of sound data coming from the source which would currently be a blu-ray player only or maybe an HD DVD but not sure. Optical / spdif does not have enough capacity to carry multi channel pcm.

    Cheers

    Peter
