    HDR1 use with BV3

I currently use a Beocord V8000 with my Beovision 3 and it all works well. I have the chance to get a HDR1 at a good price. So the question is will it work OK  with my Beovision as it is or will I need to update the software? The Beovision is about 5 years old.

    Thanks

    Phil

    Re: HDR1 use with BV3

The HDR1 worked with my much older MX7000 so there will be no problem with your BV3. The HDR1 is only incompatible with the AVANT with an integrated V.TAPE.

HDR1 is seen as a VX8000 by the TV so no problem.

HDR1 is a great recorder. It has a STB-C on the back, so if you don't have one on the TV you could connect a STB to the AUX scart of the HDR1 and control everything with the remote.

Otherwise you can connect the VX8000 to the AUX scart of the HDR1. You can call it by pressing V.TAPE + YELLOW and then you control the VX8000 with the Beo4.

You can even transfer recorded programs from the HDR1 to a tape on the VX8000 for archive. It will start and stop automatically. Pure B&O magic.

Then you should know that the record record function doesn't work if you combine the HDR1 with the MX7000.

It is also stated in the manual, that when you use record record, the HDR1 will lock up.

If you use a HDR2 instead,  the instant recording (record 2x) is fixed.

It worked absolutely fine with my MX.

Are you aware of any problems with the BV3?

    Re: HDR1 use with BV3

I haven't any experience with the BV3. But I expected that will be no problem at all.

Both the 28 and 32" version are avant related.

One thing you should do is to attach the HDR1 directly to the BV3 and not at the decoderscart from the V8000.

First attach the HDR1 to Vtape scart without the v8000 attached at all.

In this case you will have for certain a "tunerdump" between the BV3 and the HDR1. This is needed for the right tunersettings in the HDR1.

If you connect the HDR1 behind the V8000 then there will be certainly no tunerdump.

    So you have 2 options

Connect the HDR1 to Vtape socket on the BV3 and the V8000 to AV socket as Vtape2.

Or connect the V8000 to scart at the back from the HDR1 to AUX (I thought it's called that way) and name it in the menu from the HDR1 as Vtape.  Then from the main menu the V8000 will be accessible via of the color buttons on the Beo4.

In the latter example, the record record function will result in a recording HDR1. Programming via teletext is also possible.

Is there a way that I can have the V8000 connected to HDR1 but still be able to record from my STB onto the HDR1?

    Re: HDR1 use with BV3

Have you got a STB-Controller (or PUC) on the BV3? Have you got a DVD1 or another source connected as well?

If yes, then you connect the STB to the TV to the AV Scart and use the STB-C, the HDR1 to the V.TAPE scart, and the V8000 to the back of the HDR1.

I include here the result of the B&O recommendation made using the PCG, for using a STB, HDR1+V8000 and a DVD1

    ************************* VIDEO SYSTEM SETUP **************************

    BeoVision 3 - 28" m/ML
    HDR 1 (VR 1)
    V 8000 (VR 2)
    DVD 1
    Set-top Box Controller ( 1 STB )

    Connection Video

Connect the aerial to the aerial input of the VR 1.
Connect the aerial output of the VR 1 to the aerial input of the
    TV-set using a coaxial cable.

    Setting of switch on DVD

Set the switch on the back of the DVD 1 (Y/C - CVBS - RGB) to position RGB

To ensure that the DVD discs are played with the proper picture format,
please perfom this "once only" operation:

Press LIST on Beo4 until v.setup appears in the Beo4 display.
Press GO to display TUNE. Press 1 if the DVD1 is connected directly
    to a BeoVision MX television.
Press 2 if the DVD1 is connected to a BeoVision MX via an AV2 Expander box,
or if DVD 1 is connected directly to any other Bang & Olufsen television.
Press GO to store the setup.
    Default is mode 1.

    Selecting option on the TV-set

Option: OPTION 1 (Factory setting), with Beo4

Edit the menu on the screen using ARROW UP, ARROW DOWN, << and >>,
    until it looks as follows:

        V.TAPE  V.TAPE
        AV      DVD

Store the programming by pressing GO.

    HDR 1 Setup:

    -----------------------------------------

    Note!

On TVs with an ML kit it is only possible to connect a decoder to the
    TV's V.TAPE socket or the DEC socket of a V 8000.
Only the V 8000 supports video signal pass-through from the decoder
    to the TV.

********************* REMOTE CONTROL FOR MAIN ROOM ********************

The recommended remote control is Beo4

The following remote controls may also be used:
    Beolink 1000

However, there may be functional limitations if the alternative
    remote control is used

    Setup for Beo4 remote control:

Beo4's "LIST" must contain the following items in order to be able
to operate the Main Room products.

    STAND
CDV     (only with S/W lower than 4.0 in Beo4)
MONO    (changed to SOUND with S/W 4.0 or higher in Beo4)
AV      (only with S/W 4.0 or higher in Beo4)

See Beo4's operation manual page 10/12 on REMOVE and ADD functions

    Note!

Beo4 must be equipped with software (S/W) 3.0 or higher.
The software version will be shown in the display of the Beo4 if you press
(STANDBY+LIST) at the same time, and (MENU+GO) at the same time.
