Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

    Hi guys, since I no longer have the Beocenter 2300 in use (two way comm version) I set my Beolink 5000  (primary remote) to one way yesterday, but now I would like to do the same with my Beolink 7000. Is that possible? It's annoying to wait for the;

    Searching...    Co contact screen!

I tried a search but did not find out how, it doesn't say in the manual either...

[panel] [setup] [system] [compnts] [audio] [store]

The Beolink 7000 will try to make contact with two-way components, but can't and will automatically go into one-way mode.

Yes I tried that, but it pretty much behaves the same. When I touch it and it fires up, it still takes several seconds before I can adjust the volume for example, and always have to choose source first... And it reads "No contact". Should it do this?

Clear all audio sources, press STORE and restore them. If the BL 7000 does not find any 2 way devices it will come up in 1 way mode.

Did that, and it works, but when first activated it's just as it would be searching for 2 -way components and the says "no contact" after this I can choose what source of the listed ones I would like to operate...

Should it really be like this?

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

Are you sure that there are no two-way compatible products in the room when doing this?

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

If BL 7000 detects a 2 way device it will return to 2 way mode.

Yes there is one, the bc2300, but it's unplugged, so it's not even getting any power.

Strange, I've must have done it 10 times according to your suggestions, but still it takes a while before it starts and says "no contact" while it lists the available sources.

Yes strange...Did you store the new configuration?

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

Yes, I did store it. My Beolink 7000 is even regularly serviced, changed battery, changed internal memory battery, changed the capacitators, (two way stopped)

So it's well taken care of. Shame really, since I love it. Have probably spent around 250 euros on keeping it alive.

    The SW is 1.3.

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

Maybe ridax (Mikael) in Sweden has an idea. He is spcialised in BL 7000 and ipod and 2 way communication and....

    You can contact him here:

    http://home.swipnet.se/ridax/ipod.htm

He is also a Beoworld member.

BTW: I have two BL 7000s: one is SW 2.X and the second is the latest model 3.1 both with RDS. SW1.3 is one of the oldest models - maybe there is something different...??

    Good luck

You've changed the AUDIO to one-way, but is VIDEO maybe still in two-way? If it is then it tries to find two-way video components.

Change the VIDEO also to one-way if you don't have two-way video components.

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

Well I don't have any video components at all at the moment.

BTW is the software upgradable? Looks sure like the 1.3 SW is a very old one.

That is the problem. It is set to video 2 way, and is waiting for an aswer from the video system as well. Remove all the video sources from the configuration.

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

I tested one way  with my 3.1 BL 7000. It works great in my main room with BS 9000, BV7-40, BM1, BL5. I think this is nearly the same setup you have, right? I can control all the sources including digital stb via V.MEM, Beomedia N.MUSIC and N.RADIO. Of course it does not display channel- and volume data. And after reactivating the remote you will read "no contact" on the blue display and below that all the available sources. But I can control them all. I think the "no contact" display just remind you that the remote is in one way mode and does not receive any info.

Normally my Bl 7000 works in a link room with an 2way MX 4000 and a BS 7000 in 2way mode but linked to the main room.

    Hope this helps.

    Stefan;

That helps, seems then that the "no contact" should be there at all times.

How can I upgrade the SW? Or can I at all upgrade it?

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

I think to upgrade your BL 7000 you have to change a chip. Please ask your dealer or Mikael (ridax). But I doubt it makes sense to upgrade. You won`t have any RDS info on your BL 7000 and the fast forward - rewind function will not work, because of the the lack of colored buttons. TRACK function works via GOTO. STAND function for BV7 via PICTURE mode and SPEAKER function via SOUND mode.

If I remember correctly, you have all these functions on SW1.3 BL 7000, right?

Why do you want to upgrade the software? I have an original one and it works fine. If you are not using RDS then I don't think there is much point. I think you may find it tricky to get hold of anyway.

Re: Beolink 7000 setting to one way?

The RDS function is pretty useless anyway. It doesn't display the radio station anywhere except the little white on blue display.
I find I have to go right up to it and lift my glasses to read it.

    Poor me, never win owt!
