I've been amazed at how big of a difference the audio quality has been since I started watching Bluray discs on my system.  I know people have debated whether the additional video resolution is justified with the BS3 + BV4 but frankly I'm much more astonished at the improvement in sound quality, realism and detail.  Not typically having the attuned hearing of an audiophile I figured that this improvement must be apparent to others on the forum as well but I haven't really seen too many comments on the subject ( other than the technical debates over HDMI/uncompressed capabilities within HDMI and the BS3).

Am I alone with this sentiment?  

I think the Chris Botti Live Bluray is one of the most spectacular sound experiences I've ever heard on my system.  The 7.4 center captures the Jazz Trumpet with such realism that it's almost scary.  I also find myself watching the end credits on Bluray titles just to hear the music.

I'm no engineer and have no idea if the qualitative differences are due to the higher sampling rate, dynamic range, better sound mix or simply the  BS3 sound handling of the different formats.  

One thing is for sure I'm craving more sources of "HD" music to listen to.  Anybody have much experience searching the options of "HD" 5.1 mixed music out there.  Will this be something that the BeoSound 5 might be able to playback internally vs BR disc?

I agree with you. When we first purchased our BV7 and a Blu-ray player we purchased Blu-rays that were duplicates of DVDs we already had. The sound difference is amazing. Watching or listening to a Blu-ray compared to a DVD is like comparing a DVD to VHS.

There is a Blu-ray audio disc that was mentioned on these forums that I purchased. It is recorded at 192khz, 24 bit, instead of the usual 48khz or occasional 96khz Blu-ray. Unfortunately our current Blu-ray player does support that high of a resolution so I can only listen to the lower resolution formats for the time being. The disc title is Trondheimsolistene Divertimenti.

Apparently not, I have been advocating the importance of modularity in Beosound 5 so that HD functions can be easily added at a later date in this forum but so far the response has been lukewarm. And there was no mention of HD functions in Beosound 5 from any of the 'insiders' in the forum. If you are into high res audio, try the offerring from Nova Physics (http://www.novaphysicsgroup.com/). Their website is grossly difficult to navigate ( new company). But the full-fledged hard disk player preposition that it has is very convincing and not very expensive in high end terms and the modularity is an added bonus, it can also integrate well with active loudspeakers. I might get one in the near future.  

I'd wait and see what the BeoSound 5 is capable of.
