    Beocom 6000 - CALLED ID PROBLEM - Help/Advice needed

    For quite some time now i've had a Mark I Beocom 6000 which has sat in its box now for nearly 18 months and I finally I got round to needing it and setting it all up.

    Now heres my Problem.

    I'm here in the UK and subscribe to the Caller ID Service with my supplier BT. Now Caller ID always worked on my old phone but when I use the Beocom 6000 I dont get called ID.

    When the phone rings I just get black squares across the display and following any incoming call if I press the Called ID button it comes up saying "Caller ID ******* empty ********"

    Can anyone shed anylight on why I may not be getting Called ID on my handset. I'm not sure if its a fault with the handset or something else.

    I would appreciate any ones help and input

    Have you activated caller ID from the handset menu?

    Press dot then 7 to access the menus.

     Thanks for the advise. done as you say but cant find anything in the Menu that relates to Caller ID.

    I don't have a 'mark 1' handset around, but we have the revised version, and the current version - and I don't think either has a menu option for activating caller ID. We never had caller ID until recently, but when BT activated it, it just worked by magic on both BeoCom 6000 systems and on the BeoTalk 1200.

    I guess it's best to try and isolate the fault - are you still able to see caller ID on the old phone you were using before (i.e. is the problem definitely with the phone)? If so then hopefully wiser folks on here will be able to advise re service options - or confirm if there is a menu item somewhere on the mark1 that I'm not seeing on our 6000s.

    Hello, check the software version by doing the following: 9# 9# 9* and then either INT, or the black dot (depends on phone). This gives you various options, one of them being the software version. Please send this and we can let you know if you need an update in order for CALLER ID to work.

    just tried 9#9#9* followed by the black dot button but nothing happended no change of screen nothing.

    The Beocom 6000 Mark I & Mark II have totally different software and associated menu's and service commands.

    As it was stated that the phone was a Mark I then to get the software version you need to press DOT 70001

    You need at least version 2.4 installed..

    Thanks for your help and finally i've managed to get my version number.

    Screen reads "044-1.30" then a string of long numbers which I imagine to be the serial number at a guess if i'm right !

    I guess the 1.30 is the version number ?

    How do I get this software updated, any ideas ??

    The "044" is the country code which shows that it has the UK software loaded.

    You are correct that 1.30 is the software version and the latest for the mark I version is 2.5

    Your dealer can get it updated, some have the ability to do it themselves, but most will send it to B&O to do.
