I have a couple of Anthony Gallo MPS150's hooked to my B&O. The sound graet and have the same look for sure. One sounds nice but if you can work two into the system it's shocking. I have had the BL2 at one point and found it to be a little much considering the $$$. Both gallo's (downfiring) sounded just as good and were a fraction of the cost of the BL2. May want to check it out. Nothing comes closer to matching the cosmetics of the B&O.

I have a REL Quake II combined with two Beolabs 8000 and two Beolabs 4000 attached to a BV7 and must say the sub matches very well. The REL is really a bargain for the money. Small, adjustable, able to play at high volumes and suited for music as well (fast). Maybe something for the shortlist?

The B&W  XT subwoofer (PV1) is very good looking next to a bv7 and some other B&O gear, but I don't know what you want to spend.

Maybe you can also look at the Velodyne SPL series.

mm, you won't find a new subwoofer from my list for that price, but I should really look for a second hand Velodyne SPL-800  if  the sub is mentioned for music. It has room correction like Koning already said, and his performance in stereo are very very good. The SPL-1000/1200/1500 are his bigger brothers, but they're out of range. If the sub is mentioned for movies I should look for another one with a bigger woofer (perhaps a SVS bang machine (really good subs for movies)).

    Re: Non B&O sub ?

Hi, I was in the same budget range last year & went for a B&W ASW608 subwoofer, it cost me EUR 450 and the improvement in a 5.1 setup with BL3+BL4000 was amazing! B&W is a very respected manufacturer, and this new range of subwoofers has built-in ICE amplifiers !!

Mine is hidden under the bed, so design-wise there's no problem, although it is just a square box.

If you're looking for better looks, indeed the B&W PV1 is a reference, it never had any bad reviews and is also fitted with an ICE amplifier. But it is 3 times more expensive too..

B&W ASW608 seams to me like a great deal !

I dont like 5.1 or 7.1 surround systems, as a meter of fact I dont use surround at all ...

I will see when I get BL8000 wheather I need sub or not.... i a mean time I want to find solution cos I heard many reviews said that if you like more bass you need to ad sub to BL8000....

Bear in mind that the 8000s are capable of very high volumes, wheras the little 608, as good as it is - isn't!

FWIW, I've always found two subwoofers to be much better than one in terms of sound quality, with one handling left and one handling right.
