Is my Beocenter 9500 dieing ?

Since a few weeks I hear some strange "plops" when I listen music at higher volumes, and it doesn't matter if I listen to a cd or pc. It sounds like you turn on a very powerfull light when you listen to a non protected radio (PLOP, that's the sound). Everytime I hear it, it freaks me out, because I love my 9500 and I don't want it to be dead...

Yesterday I was listening again at a higher volume and PLOP, the left channel dissapeart. First I thought the machine damaged my new Sonus Faber Concerto speakers Angry, but when I turned on and off the Beocenter and slammed it a bit the left channel was back. I was very lucky, but still a bit afraid that there will be a moment that the left channel won't come back Sad.

The speakers are powered by a big Aaron No. 3 Millenium amp, so it's not the power source in the 9500 that is broken (that happen't a few years ago with my Pioneer SA amplifier. After 28 years the right channel was dead). Does somebody know if I have to replace a part in the Beocenter ?

     overview of the setup

Beocenter 9500 combined with the Beolink 7000 (pre amp + cd)(age 19 years)

Aaron No. 3 Millenium (power amp), connected trough the powerlink with DIN cables(age 5 years)

Sonus Faber Concerto (speaker) (age 2 months)

Have you connected the power amp to the speaker connections of the BC9500? If yes, which one, Speakers 1 or Speakers 2 -line? In case the line 1 there is the mute-relay that is proved to cause troubles because of oxidizing contacts inside it. That causes missing channels on lower volumes, crackles in sound and things like that. If possible, try the speakers 2-line. (I have no experience in powerlink systems so this might be useless but anyhow). If the relay is causing this, it has to be replaced.

I've connected the power amp through the Powerlink outs. Otherwise the power amp will receive a pre powered signal from the ampflifier of the 9500 itself.

In that case it could be the mute relay.

If it is the relay, it should work fine when connected to the Speaker 2 -line. Still, if it is the relay, the replacement is relatively easy task (I tried, failed miserably, and paid 500 EUR for a local B&O shop to fix it!). If they do the relay replacement, it shouldn't cost a fortune.

EDIT; By the way, is there a way to open the cassette/cd -covers from the remote? I have a Beolink 1000 and BC9000. I have seen a B&O ad where this happens (could have been arranged somehow) so is this possible?

I think if you press CD or Tape when there is no CD or tape in the beocenter it opens automatically - not sure though as it is quite some time since I last owned one of these types of beocenter.

Just tried.  The covers did not open with the Beo4 nor the BL1000 when pressing CD or Amem/Atape.  If, however I pressed CD on the remotes after having put a CD in the player, the door closed before playing the CD.

I have my BC9500 connected to an Avant with the Avant in Option 2 and the BC9500 in Option 0.

The manual says that the cd-cover should open if you press play on cd and if there is no disc inserted. This seems to work from the touchpanel but not from the remote.

If the covers are opened and you press stand by from the remote the lids will close. But it seems that they can't be opened from the remote....

The doors cannot be opened with the remote.
