Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Can someone help, please? I've just experienced strange problems with BeoPort: as pictured (left part of the picture) I suddenly can't specify portable copying quality in my BeoPort's CONFIG menu. The box to set this quality (as compared to the right of the enclosed picture taken from the GUIDE) simply disappeared and I also have additional problems with eg being unable to copy directly from PC CD to my BeoSound2! - Tried many things: to reset the BS2, to update my BeoPort version, tried different SD cards, but nothing seems to solve the problem. The BeoPort can though locate the Beosound2 and has it displayed on its portable device list! Would be thankful for any ideas ...

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Thanks for that Andy, anyway. Maybe some Microsoft update somehow quarels with my BeoPlayer, then? (I start to understand the mac crowd, I guess...) The only way how I now can copy a music CD to SD card in my BS2 is by first copying it into Beoplayer and (only!) then switching to FOLDER display when in N.MUSIC mode before getting it to the SD card ... still I can't set the copying quality

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Hello Saf ! It sounds like some recent software installation drivers have interfered, blocked, or provoked some kind of incompatibility with beoplayer software and drivers specially those referent to beosound2. My advice would be a complete un-installation (even using a "RegCleaner" or similar afterwards to erase all registry traces) and a full re-installation of beoplayer software from scratch. Hope you have good luck my friend.

mhw:Have you installed Nero Burning Rom lately?
Nope, but noticed that I did install it quite a few years ago (never using it actually). I also uninstalled the thing now. Ad Santiago - yes, that thought (complete reinstall) stroke me, but why oh why this always happens right before the holidays ... Thanks guys: I'm going for the third lager and then to bed so I'm mentally ready for the reinstall option - after the holiday!

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
For urgency SD card fill with your "holidays music", you can use any SD
card adapter and the windows file explorer "drag and drop" for your mp3 files; your BS2 will reset and re-read
the new filled card simply by pressing the 2 key pad combination.

mhw:and see if there is any yellow question marks or exclamation marks there...
It indeed is full of them, mhw - and all related through some code description to BeoPort. So I'll go for major reinstall I guess, as this is where my abilities stop

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Ok., I have noticed a few links by other members regarding the problems with the 4.81v of Beoport and am nearing the conclusion that it’s been the worst ever version of the software I’ve ever installed: - lost many useful features as described above as well as by others in different posts - total mess regarding copying to SD card: both via BS2 and other SD writing/reading device – when the SD card plays in my BS2 it doesn’t work with my BS3, when it “kind of” works with my BS3 playing 1(!) track of a copied playlist/folder eg, then it doesn’t work with my BS2, etc. (older, previously recorded SD cards, work with both BS2 and BS3!) - NO HELP WHATSOEVER on the B&O site/manuals on this issue I have tried everything from scratch – using a brand new laptop, brand new downloads of the program, brand new SD cards incl. formatting these in different devices, comparing it all to how my older computer deals with this (which is screwed up, too, regarding how the Beoport now works, by the way), reorganizing my music on hard drives etc. etc.
I’m down on my knees very close to begging some fellow BeoWorlder to share with me the previous version which seemed to work (for me) perfectly, namely 4.65. Am I panicking without a reason being unfair asking: What the hell were they thinking releasing that s***?! Any comments on that, please?
(Still laughing, but getting more serious...)

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Hey fellow sufferer. I too was in the same situation as you. Finally someone who I can share my frustration with. I used to do the same thing, staight from PCCD to Beosound 2 recording. Then after an update, one random day, wasn't able to record to Beosound, when in PCCD mode, the other column just doesn't bring an option to Beosound 2. And in the settings menu the record to player quality settings has also gone. This lead me after a month or so of depression to come to the conclusion that They had taken the feature out, quite slyly and stealthily if you ask me. I tried to ask so many people if I had a computer problem or if B&O actually had reduced the features. And nobody got back to me. Their website is also botched up. I used to be able to e-mail them and have a reply within a few weeks. Now, there just isn't an option. In fact I challenge you. Go to the contact us section on their UK/EU website, and try to send them an e-mail. The actual send button is grey, it doesn't actually click. They have screwed us. Now I have heard their is a chat room, on Wednesdays at noon. Who the hell actually can do that, I am at work. I am never going to be able to that. At the least they should also have it running on Sundays too. And I've assumed that this chat room with their technicians actually does happen unlike the "contact us" page. Anyway back to your problem? I have made a few posts regarding this. But have come to no solution. I also would like version 4.65, so if anyone out there can get it, it would be much appreciated. Does 4.65 have all the radio stations in it? Like the current one does?

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Tried it (the download from Ralf's link) and it unfortunately doesn't work, i.e. I ended up with the same loss of features as with 4.81 - though it said 4.65. Besides, it was only BeoPlayer and not BeoPort as I hoped I might find ... well, let's keep on trying ...

Re: Problems with BeoPort/Beosound2
Hi, since the introduction of BeoSound 6 & Serenata, you can't specify a different encoding/bitrate for portable audio & PC , and you can't copy directly from CD to music player; that may be a shame for many, but that's how B&O decided that things should be..they simply consider that with larger memory on portable systems (and PCs), you no longer need to have smaller files for your portable audio, and that all your CD library can be stored on your PC for future and faster access. It does make sense, doesn't it?

If you have a question for the B&O chatroom, please post a reply on following forum thread. http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/thread/92213.aspx When I'm able to attend the chatroom, I will post your reply.

So why didn't they go the whole hog and simply decided to set everything to 'lossless' and remove the feature (to specify different encoding/bitrates) alltogheter - I mean, following such a train of thought, Chris? Wouldn't it be also - and still - more ideal to copy my CDs at the best ('lossless') way once for all, and then decide on the bitrate to use when copying some music for casual listenning such as when enjoying B&O's very own concept, namely BS2 - limited at present to 2GB cards? The best flexibility was given to us users, IMHO, when the BeoPort version indeed made this possible - it also showed at what quality your N.MUSIC was being recorded/playing. Not any more - instead you have to go and use a different software to get this information (?!) Unfortunately, exactly this version (which I had and stupidly replaced by a newer one) doesn't seem to be (will look closer, though) on the otherwise interesting list posted by Ralf - thanks again, Ralf. Really appreciated.
