    Beo5 Options

    I have already the Beo5 for apprximately a month. Actually my wife doesn't even want to see it!!! and frankly spoken I'm not quite sure if I made the right choice buying it. Any way........

     For some reason, when I go to the menu for the option progrmming of various devices, the Beo5 will not work. When I go to the option programming and hit on a zone nothing happens. Any idea or any chance that someone could help on this?

    It is supposed to do the option programming automatically when in the assigned room. Must confess that I think the Beo5 is, at present, a white elephant - however it will be interesting to see if it develops with the new Beosound 5.

    Is ther any chance that this feature was locked by my local retailer?

    I doubt it very much. More likely the set up is not quite right. Did you do it yourself? Keith is the Beo5 expert.

    NO It was done by the retailer.

    And I have the latest fimware upgrade so previous software cannot setup anything Wink .At least I did try to set it up however it cold not dowload the changes to the Beo5. (By the way you know anything about this issue?)

    I've had the same experience mainly with my '....her in doors...', she said I rather use the Beo5 until the Beo5 was sorted out. Basically, the dealers didn't really know how to program it and sometimes stated limitations based on there lack of understanding. One, thing to remember or that I've learnt is that if the Beo4 can do it then Beo5 can. I'd have a chat with B&O technical support and if you don't have the s/w call your dealer and get them to sort it out.

    I sounds like someone has cockup the programming of your Beo5...does it work with a Beo4?

    Hello Errol.

    It does work with the Beo4, however I must admit that maybe I do not know how to do it. I go the options, then zones appear and when I press to a zone nothing happens.

    Unless the only options we are talking about are the ones when you setup the Beo5 through the software. Is this right?

    When products are added to a zone via the programming tool, then the option for each product is available as a right-click menu on the pictures of the product.

    I bet you that this is not done by the dealer :) It is quite a "hidden" menu in my oppinion. Try to talk to your dealer, and ask him if he specific has set the options for each product added.

    Being a reader on this forum for quite some time, I finally decided to join to try to help out with subjects where I might have knowledge or new ideas.

     Regarding the option programming, the IR strength is limited and you have to be right in front of the product that you want to change to option for. It is made this way to prohibit that you by accident sets the option for all your products within IR range. The IR range (when limited) is approximately 1 meter (3 feets) so you have to be quite close to the IR receiver of the product.

     Please try to see if this works. The product gives you a feedback by flashing the red diode if successful.

    It is always helpful when someone can share the technical knowledge. I have already set it up however please let me know if I'm just in front and press the option then the option numbers will appear as well?

    The option numbers will not appear. The option numbers are part of the setup in the tool and the Beo5 remote knows the options for the product in the selected zone. When you choose to option programme the zone, the Beo5 will send out the options for both the VIDEO and AUDIO in that zone. TV products only accepts the option for VIDEO and radios only accepts the option programming for AUDIO, so the fact that Beo5 sends out both is not a problem.

     The option numbers are only available by setting Beo5 to "Default" instead of "Custom" in the setup menu (I don't have a Beo5 in front of me and the button names may be named differently than I remember).
