Convertig a mcl transceiver to a vx sensor.

I saw on beocentral that the vx sensor looks just like a MCL transceiver, except that the mute and timer buttons are missing. Would it be possible to use the MCL as a vx sensor if some of the wires are connected to the appropriate plug? I do not have enough insight and technical skill to understand if or not.

I would appreciate if someone could have an idea on what wires to use and what type of plug to use. Then I could try it with a spare mcl transceiver I have at home.

Should be possible. You only need 3 pins: IR - 5V - ground. You  can also use the Vishay TSOP 7000. It`s a 455 kHz receiver.

    Thank you Stefan.

The user guide says it is a Ø 3.5 mm plug. I do not know if it is a 3 or a 4 pole. I also do not know what wire to connect to what pole. Maybe this is in the vx 4500 service manual. That one is not on this site but I have made an inquiry.

Re: Convertig a mcl transceiver to a vx sensor.

I have three sensors that look identical. One is a VX sensor which I have connected to my Beoport, another came with a remote controlled loudspeaker switch, and the third is part of a dealers demo unit.
Strangely, the power supply for the demo unit is opposite polarity than the one for the speaker switch, so be careful.

After spending some time with a multimeter and a soldering iron, the mcl transceiver is now converted to a vx sensor. Now I can remote control the vx 4500.
