16:9 broadcasts on normal 4:3 MX tv

Is it possible following any key sequence (beo4 or beolink 1000) to see the whole picture of a 16:9 broadcast on a normal B&O MX television? My old SONY does this with a key on the remote! I wonder....if the - not so old B&O - can do this !

     thanks for your help...

I can do it on my LX TV's but it is done using an option on the STB providing the signal,  not using an option on the TV itself.

If what you mean is to zoom in ( to fill the whole screen ), then yes, it's possible. On Beo4 go to LIST > FORMAT and then choose FORMAT 2. I f you don't have it on the list, you should add it first. Also, it's possible it won't work because it's not a widescreen tv, but it's worth checking out.

Thanks a lot but I meant if you can zoom out: for example see movie that is broadcasted in 16:9 supressed , in letterbox format. Because all programs now are shown with "longer faces" , if you know what I mean.

what mx model do you have? i have a mx4002 masterlinked to bv3 with sky, and when i select sky on the mx i too get the squashed picture. I have asked a similar question before and was told 16:9 wont work on the mx4002 but does work on the mx4200. If anyone know different please let us know.

Our MX4002 is connected to a HDR1 and Digital Decoder.

HDR1 recordings directly from the Digital Decoder 16:9 are shown with "long faces".

But... a similar recording done with standard terestrial signal (from the outlet on the wall) gives a nice letterbox format.

    It beats me how come.

Oh, in this setup I can watch digital in the bedroom too. But then like the HDR1 digital recording faces will be longer then normal. To eliminate this the digital decoder must be set to 4:3 mode instead of 16:9. The right and left side of the image won't show. They are cut of to fill the screen i think.
