What could B & O offer as a sales incentive?

Given the current economic downturn, and the imminent price increase,I was wondering what sales incentive(s) B & O could offer to attract potential buyers.

Two possibilities spring to mind, viz a standard 5 years warranty, and, where required, free firmware updates during the warranty period.

The latter would naturally become less, and less, necessary as the product became stabilised.

Any others that might help B & O weather the coming storm?

The storm has been building for quite some time regarding B&O.- The so called credit crunch isnt helping of course.

I dont feel any incentives, such as £500 for an old avant or extended warranties will help B&O develop more sales.

We can only hope that new arrangements in place will lead to lower prices on LCD products. Even well heeled customers are doubting the merits of spending the sums involved. If one takes the pricing debate to a logical conclusion ( and we know B&O is slow to adopt new things) whats going to happen when far superior oled comes out, with B&O smasung LCD priced at 8K?

With commodity prices holding up so well, perhaps B&O could develop some class-leading gold extrusion technology for the frame of the BV7. That way, when the panel is obsolete in <12mths, at least the customer will get a good trade in down the local metal exchange.

This is the only sensible way of justifying the purchase!

the £500 avant trade in is a bit of an insult imo

when bno bring out an hdtv with pic quality as good on sd sources as my avant , fair enough

til then - a top end bravia or a stunted bv8 - which would you rather have ?

the prices of the top bv7 and bv9 no longer belong in the real world

Have to agree, I could justify the £3500 I paid for my BV3-32. Some of the prices now though are just beyond belief, and the way technology changes so fast. Don't think I would like to pay £8000 for a TV only for it to be outdated 6 months later.

There is only one way in my opinion:

     BACK TO THE ROOTS!

    =

1.) Build your stuff in Denmark,

2.) don't increase the price every 6 months for nothing (people think B&O is mad)

3.) build your stuff in the same great quality like the Beovision Avant, Beosound 3000, 9000 etc. and not lame stuff like serene, Beosound 4 etc.!

4.) make it EASY to operate with ergonomical handling and don't restrict the products to limited compatibility (like Beo 5 "universal" remote that can control other brands only via IR-Translation adapters etc.)
