Last weekend I was restoring the woodwork in my recently purchased Beomaster 900K (another one!) and the Beovox S80.2's I also got lately.
The 900K sounded pretty good once I cleaned all the scratchy controls, but then it occured to me that why not try it with the 80.2's. Yes, it sounded quite excellent for a 40+ year old stereo receiver, but I had to turn the bass almost all the way down and the treble almost all the way up before it sounded balanced to me. Is it designed this way - perhaps to compensate for the characteristics of the internal speakers - or would it benefit from some upgrades?
The woodwork restoration on the 900K was a success anyway. I got completely rid of a flower pot mark and various scratches on the top, and the faceplate is clean as ever. Too bad the slider rail with the position markers is missing an inch or so from the other end.
