Great! Have you experienced any problems with the new lacquer due to the soft touch surface?

I have a spare case in stock since years now for such a project....

What about the loudspeaker cover, is it black?

I had to remove all the soft touch coating with caustic soda , then spray paint . I called it my StarWars version of BC1! My original case was the red(dish) version, and was so damaged by the previous owner that I decided to change it..and yes, the front speaker cover is black, I just got it last week!

Did the soft touch coating come off easily?

Sweet! I fell in love with the BeoCenter 6-26 in white when I saw it for the first time last weekend...

Hi, the soft touch coating was easily removed by spraying the caustic soda foam you use to clean your oven, letting it work for 10 minutes, then rinsing with water and drying before spray painting on the next day.
I did the same thing with my BV3-32, but this time painted it glossy black, because I found the original grey plastic a bit sad..

Nice job Chris, I think your BC1 looks great in white. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the colour of frets?

Thanks Henry, as for the frets, they are not easy to paint..I tried to paint the red one I had to black, I thought it would be easy because that would be a darker colour, but no way. Eventually I bought a brand new fret that cost me more than the spray paint of the case, but you know B&O prices! I think the only way to change the colour of frets is to remove the original fabric & glue the one you wish to have, prevented it is an acoustically neutral one. However I think the fabric is thermo-glued, so it might not be an easy task either. I tried also to have no fret at all, but this time the BeoCenter looked too StarWars ![:'(] , but on the dark side..

If my mind serves me right, Lee had an all white Avant, where the speaker cover was white, too. Maybe he can shed some light on changing the color of frets.
