8 pin DIN for powerlink cables

I'm wanting to put the wiring in the walls. Thus I'd need to buy or make some wall plates.

My question is, are the powerlink cables just 8 pin DIN cables. Thus we could use a simple and cheap chassis jack like this for the wall plate.??

    Yep, they're just DIN connections.

Are these regular (13.2 mm diameter) or mini-Din (9.5 mm) connectors?

    Thanks!

    They're regular DIN, not mini.

Thanks for the quick reply, Austin!

Does it matter whether it is a MK-3 or Mk-1 cable?

As I understand it, to connect Beolab 8000 speakers to a Beosound 9000 I only need a 4-core wire cable, correct?

Fewer wires  to solder the better!Smile

    Hi Al,

there are two different DIN plugs available with 8 pin - make sure to use the 080 type as shown in the picture attached. You will only need four wires but you have to use a cable with two separately shielded wires for the left and the right channel, GND (shield) and one wire for the Speaker-On signal. I would recommend an original powerlink cable because it is difficult to obtain another suited cable.

    Hello Hagen,

yes, I plan to use custom length B&O power cable (without connectors) and 8-pin DIN wall plates.  Since I am only connecting the 8000 speakers and the Beosound 9000 I am wondering whether I should go to the trouble and making 8 connections as shown here:
    http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring2.htm

or just the minimum 4 ?  [shown here: http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/misc2.htm]

    Any suggestions?

    Vielen Dank!
