    Beogram 1902

Hi I am new to this forum, I bought a Beogram 1902 last weekend, it all seems to work fine, except it takes some time for the turntable to spin at normal speed, thought maybe this could be the belt, if so could someone tell me where I can get a replacement belt for this unit? Also more importantly there is a loud buzz when playing records. The deck is hooked up via the 5pin din supplied which then goes into a 5pin din to phone cable, then into my amp, I guess snipping off the 5pin din and replacing with phono may help, but not sure of the pinouts, or whether this will fix it, any help would be great

    many thanks

As far as the buzz is concerned, you need a wire running from the casing of the DIN plug to the earth on your amplifier.

There are special "phono" versions of the DIN to RCA adapters that have the required separate ground lead. Or you can just jam a suitable loose wire between the cases of the DIN connectors and connect the other end to the amp ground, at least you'll find out if a right adapter would remove the hum.

Don't bastardize the original cable, odds are that you will be getting an old B&O receiver in the near future Laughing

As to the other problem, it's quite probable that you have a stretched belt. Member Dillen (Martin) can probably get one for you if you can't get them locally (it doesn't need to be a B&O belt, just one of the right size. The long belts used in these old turntables are getting hard to find nowadays, though).
