Sound Problems - Speed Changing? Excessive Wow or Flutter? Beogram 3404

My trusty old Beogram 3404 has been giving me some problems. When I play music that's an isolated voice or single instrument, like an  acoustic guitar, it just doesn't sound right. I get the feeling like the speed may not be right, but could it be because of there's too much wow or flutter? Would that issue be disguised when there's more 'sound', like a full band playing?

I've also been wondering if I need to level the table or something. I bought bullseye level, but it doesn't fit over the spindle, so it's not much help. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I wonder if it either needs a new belt or a motor service.

I replaced the belt last year. How does one get the motor serviced?

It seems like songs on the inner grooves have more of an issue than others. I listened to Rhapsody in Blue on it last night and, overall, the sound seemed fine till the last 6 minutes or so. Then, I began to notice it. It's more of a warped sound, I think.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but do you mind e-mailing me or letting me know how you replaced the belt?

    Thanks,

    Paul

You just need to lift the platter off. You can use something thin like a credit card to go under the platter and lift it up.
