Re: BS 9000 vs. BS 5

This has been debated at least twice recently. I'd run a search for the replies. In fact, I'd always do that before posting a new thread.

From the BS5 perspective - it only really plays digital audio. It's very expensive kit, to play digital audio. I'd buy myself a mint second hand BS9000 and connect an Airport Express. I own both a BS5 and an Airport Express system and the latter is easier to use and more reliable!

The BS5/BM5 is a tad flaky. I've had to reset and reboot the BM5 at least 10 times in three weeks, so far.

The only con i can think of with the BS9000 is it doesnt have DAB radio. But thats not realy a problem for me as i can play BBC6 music through the Sky+ and BV3 which is connected to the 9000 and BL4000's. Also as moxxey states it works a treat with the Airport express for digital music. With the Remote app on the iPhone is also brilliant.

Dont know much about the BS5 apart from the fact it looks brilliant but from what ive read, im glad i dont have one.

I also have a BS9000 linked to a BV7-40 Mark III and use Apple TV which is superb I must say. The ATV compliments the B&O system really well. All is controlled through the Beo 5 - or will be when I get it back!
