    BeoSound 9000 + Burned CDs

Does anyone know whether the BeoSound 9000 is a bit fussy with burnt CDs? I just tried to play a burnt Sony (sorry, but B&O don't make them!) disc which spins and pauses twice and sometimes does and sometimes doesn't play. Some others from the same pack are also a bit 'hesitant'. This is the only problem I've had with burned CDs and I'm wondering if it is brand-related. I chose these because they are brightly coloured iridescent blue - they look great in the machine!

It was a CD-R, burned on a Macintosh computer, played on a Mark 2 BeoSound 9000. Is there is a burn setting that needs to change?

As an aside, is there any risk of damage to the CD mechanism if it spins and fails to read?

    Commercial discs play fine.

    Thanks
    Stuart

Re: BeoSound 9000 + Burned CDs

Older BS-9000's (mine's from Jan, 1997) can get just far enough out of alignment between the sled and the 'holding clamps' that they begin to get 'picky' as you say.  Mine got so that it would refuse to play some commercially purchased CDs...but always the same ones.  Very strange.  I hade the sled adjusted, andeverything is fine now.  And, yes, my MKI plays properly mastered CD's from my iMac with no trouble.,

How did you burn the CD? With iTunes? If you just stuck some audio files on a CD in OS X then it won't work at all...

Sorry if it seems obvious, but it's worth mentioning Smile I've never had any problems getting CD-Rs or CD-RWs to play on a BeoSound 9000.

CDs burned correctly - they play in the car and my other audio system. Strange...Oh well

I've not had any problems with playing Sony CD-Rs but I copy the folders direct to the disc using Roxio Digital media and record them at a slow burn rate.

You might try to reduce the burn rate in your iTunes settings.

There are noticeable differences between the discs of different manufacturors. Did you already try another brand?

Some good advice there. They were burned at the highest speed. Other brands do play okay however. I've got Roxio Toast as well, so I shall experiment.
