    Century Problem

    Dear members,

My century has the last couple of days the following problem:

When i load a cd, the cd door will not close entirely and stays half way open. Sad  When i unplug the system and plug it back in, it closes all the way. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Thanks!

    Re: Century Problem

Hi Iceman and welcome to BeoworldSmile
I have no personal experience of these, but I think I read that there can sometimes be a problem of dust collecting near the sensors.
I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to help you.

    Re: Century Problem

    Hello Iceman,

I had a 12 year old Century with a similar problem. To allow the CD arm entirely closing I had to push the opened glass door 1 or 2 millimeters to the left before pressing LOAD. If door isn't totaly open the CD arm can't close normaly. You can try if the problem is the same.

My dealer told me that the mecanism (door and arm) must be changed for a huge price (300-400€) but I solved the problem by myself :

I removed the door and left cover to have access to the mecanism (a big white wheel and a black case : when you slowly manually turn the wheel, you first see the door support moving to the left and then the CD arm moving up). You can unscrew the black case and slide it 2-3 mm to the left and rescrew it. The door opens 1-2 mm more to the left. This is very easy to do (I'm really not a handyman!).

I hope you understand me (my english is very bad) and this will perhaps help you.
