Help me Identify This

I recently aquired a Beosystem 1 and the seller had this item included in the deal. I am not sure how this could be used. It does not have any standard B&O serial number sticker on it.

I think it is a device so that you can use Beolab 5s. Normally one has a Low Frequency Effect channel - this needs to go through the BL5s.
