    MCP 6500 hinge

I've got a MCP 6500, which is practically mint except for one of the hinges. The lid "sags" at one end, apparently due to missing teeth in the hinge. Looks like a crappy underengineered design and probably is a common problem - are the hinges available as spare parts for any reasonable price?

    Re: MCP 6500 hinge

Hey Mika, I actually have the exact same problem.  In fact I actually bought an mcp 5500 thinking I could swap the hinges.  Little did I know the attachment to the door was different.  At least I needed it anyway for the glass.  I haven't thought of calling a dealer to see if b&o still has the parts though.

I happened to be downtown today, so I visited the B&O dealer (there has to be a first time for everything...) and asked about their spare part policy in general, and the MCP 6500 hinge in particular. He called Denmark immediately, confirmed the part number, and that they are still available at an insane price of three euros / pair. He was also sorry that they won't arrive here until Wednesday Laughing

At that price, I ordered two sets. If you have trouble getting them locally, drop me a note and I'll send the other pair to you!

Great news Mika!  I'll ask my local dealer and if they can't get the pair for me I'll take up your offer!

    Thanks,

Mission accomplished! Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding, I only got one pair and the price (3 €) for was one hinge. The hardest part is getting the old hinge out without scratching the lid. Of all the B&O pieces I've had my hands on, this was the first which could be opened simply by removing a number of obvious screws Laughing

The part number is 3030071, and yes, the toothed parts are still flimsy plastic.

Thanks Mica.  I called my local dealer today, and they said they'll call the Chicago warehouse on Monday to see whether they're still available.
