Connecting a HDMI input and assigning to V.MEM

    Hi,

I read that, as the BV7-40 MKIII has a DVB-T as standard in the UK, you have to assign the Sky box to V.AUX. I read that online and my dealer has their box set up this way. They set up my TV like this.

It's a bit of pain to have to select V.AUX + go, just to watch TV.

However, I was reading the manual and it implied that you could assign a video source to V.MEM, which is a button on the Beo4. So, went in to options and reconfigured my Sky box to V.MEM. It works.

I'm now confused. Why did the dealer set it to V.AUX + go and, if you can assign to V.MEM instead, why don't they give that option? I even asked during installation if the Sky box could be assigned to a button on the remote, rather than through the LIST option.

You can assign the V.MEM by calling up the Menu, Options, Connections and then the AV you have V.AUX set to. Press the right button to change the V.AUX to V.MEM. Just make sure you can still select your Set Top Box (STB) from the list that follows. Go finally stores the settings.

Thanks, that's exactly what I did. I just couldn't understand why my dealer told me they couldn't assign the STB to a button on the Beo4! I thought there must be an issue or something.

Moxxey, your dealer may have a preferred 'set' of 'what goes where'. He may habitually use V.MEM for a VCR, for example. He probably sees the Sky box as an auxiliary item. It's up to you where you place things (isn't B&O great in this regard?) You'll need to use LIST though when you have three or more boxes hanging ... eg PS3, Wii, XBox ... !!!
