I have a DVD1 connected to an LX5500 but cannot access the S Video signal via Shift+9. I get a blank screen. Can anyone advise me of the reason for this? I have tried a Hi8 VCR also with S output and nothing from that also.The scart from the DVD1 is connected via an AVX-1 expander to AV2 and works fine

From the pile of MX/LX sets i've repaired i learned that with 9,5 out of 10 of these tv sets the solderings at the back of the s-vhs connection are loose, i'm sure this is the same with your's (so a bit of minor surgery would be needed).

You could try to slightly pull/turn the jack a bit in the connection while looking at the screen and see if something happens...

I have now traced this problem to an intermittent problem with a lead. A new lead works fine.
