Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Hi I bought while ago MX3500 and i got Beolink 1000 remote control with it. Today i bought s-video cable and scart adapter and tried to hook MX with my computer.
My computer recognizes that tv is connected to my computer (i made clone etc.) but i cant get picture out of tv. I have my computer connected on AV1 and digibox AV2, Digibox works fine, since it sends automatically signal and "takes over" tv.
Unfortunately i don't have user manual for Beolink 1000, so i don't have a damn clue what to do now. I tried to do some search, but didn't find any similar problems. Hope somebody can help me. -Tom

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
I can access the menu pressing Shift+Text, but i have no idea how to active AV1 where my computer is connected. I just see "P-Link off" and "Timer" on menu. Then 1 -- * and 2 -- *.

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Thanks alot. This was very helpful.
I can now navigate on menu, but i still can't set scart socket 1 or scart socket 2 at all, pressing > does nothing. There is only * behind socket 1 and 2.
Im pretty sure computer is sending video to tv, but i just can't set the tv properly. Any ideas?

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Sent me your e-mail address, I will sent docs to you (appr. 5 MB), please post solution if you can find one this way. Ralf PS: Shift, 9 (to turn on S-VHS) did not help? Are you sure your computer is set to produce a picture via s-vhs? MUTE, Picture (turns on and off the picture), can this be it?

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
I now connected s-video cable to MX3500's s-vhs port and pressed Shift, 9, but nothing happened. This is really weird, not getting anything at all.

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Do you have a notebook? Fn + F4 or Fn + F4 may need to be pressed to activate the s-vhs port.... You will still need scart for sound... Ralf

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
I don't know if I really follow very well however, I recently setup my Avant to work with the PC. Are you using a desktop or a laptop? If you are using a desktop and you have a video out port I would suggest connecting the monitor also so that you can change the settings etc and see if it makes any difference on the TV. This got me stumped for a while so might be the problem. Turn your PC completely off and then turn it on - does anything appear on the screen. What happened with mine is that a picture would appear whilst in dos mode but once windows had booted it would go blank again. This is because you need to adjust your resoloution in control panel till it displays. Also I am not a fan of S video when connecting TVs to computers. Why not use a scart to composite adaptor and a phono cable to do the same job that way you can connect the sound as well. This is my setup and it works quite well. Let me know if this helps...

Also, are you sure that the TV is able to switch between NTSC and Pal as it is quite old and therefore this may not work...

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Hi: Yes I am using a scart adaptor too, however I do have one of those computer to TV adaptors for if you do not have a video out graphics card (like an idiot I forgot to check and went out and bought it anyway). Unfortunately, it seems to me that perhaps (I am still unsure so perhaps you should ask the question in a different thread to see) the TV is too old to be compatible with a computer signal. However, I really am just imagining that this is the problem and this is not grounded in fact!!

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
IMHO, the problem can't be the that the TV is too old, because the S-Video signal doesn't changed, so all S-Video labelled system must work together correctly. There are just two remarks, the "snow picture" usually exists on an analog TV channel, but NOT in any way on a Scart/S-Video channel, because the "snow" is coming from the tuner, which is neither used in these case. So, it seems, the TV doesn't switched to AV mode, but remained in TV mode - so there must be a problem in the "Menu" options, maybe the AV channels are not configured correctly. So, if You are going to the menu, go down with the left-right buttons, and then use the up/down to change the input mode from "*" to fe. video to activate the AV channels. Maybe the problem is here. If not, then I'am clueless, because the Shift+9 S-Video change was never worked on my MX5500 also :( I've tryed everything, tryed to use the S-Video input from a notebook, but I was not able to get the picture :( So, if somebody have any additional idea, I'am also interested in it :)

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Hi: Could it be that his scart connector is broken altogether - and thus the TV will ot switch to AV?

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
I think this is exactly what is my problem. I can't get the tv on av-channel, the tv is on "normal" mode. I've tried to change "*" from the menu to something other, but it just doesn't change, no matter what i press.
If i manage to find solution, i'll post it here.

No, unless store sells broken connectors, i could try with another scart adapter though.

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Sorry, what I meant by connector was the scart socket in the TV itself, they often come loose and thus loose their connection with the board. Have you tried running a PS2 or Xbox off the TV using this socket - maybe this will tell you if the scart is broken? I can't really help with S video - I have never had much success with it myself. Sorry if these responses are mere speculation - I am at a bit of a loss now...

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
My Topfield TF6000 Digital Receiver works with both AV. But digibox "takes over" the tv, don't have to "access" av-channel.

Re: Connecting Beovision MX3500 with computer?
Ok, perhaps therefore you sould look at the remote manual for programing the AV presets - I always find it annoying that b&o don't have a TV/AV button. The button configuration might be slightly out. Again speculation.
