Beogram 3300 adaptor for phone amp

    Hi

My beomaster 3300 has gone belly up -when I try to select anything ie cd etc the light comes on then clicks off again, had this problem earlier in the year but it is back- and I may need to buy a new amp etc. I do not have the money for a new B&O system, but can afford about £200 for a new amp but it will need to be a Onkyo or something like that. My question is: is it possible to get an adaptor to connect the Beogram 3300 to a 'normal' amp?

    Confused

    Hi & welcome to BeoworldSmile

    Yes,

they are available from any decent electrical suppliers such as Maplin (in the UK). You will probably only be able to source a 5 pin DIN to phono cable which will require the removal of pins 1 & 7 from your Beogram output cable - these simply unscrew. Take care not to lose these as they carry the datalink information and will need replacing if/when you reconnect to a B&O beomaster to enable remote control functions.

Have you thought about repairing your Beomaster rather than replacing it? I'm sure it would be cheaper.

    Chris.

    Hi Medogfat

Thanks for the reply and advice. I have taken your advice about getting it looked at and it is off to the engineers today, and I should know by tomorrow evening. I am rather nervous.

Could I ask you another question? If the beomaster is fixed I still need to get a new CD player. I cannot find the one to go with this system. Given the age of my B&O it is worth while buying a good new one given the difference in technology. Up till now I have been using a cheap Sony because I was not sure if it was worth while buying a good new CD player.

    Yours

To be honest I would look out for a CD3300 on ebay, they do come along quite regularly (and well priced, normally less than £100) and I have yet to come across a non working one, they seem fairly bullet proof. The advantage of this is you'll be able to control it remotely using either a terminal 3300 or a beolink 1000.

Any other CD player will be fine though but you'll probably need a phono/RCA > 5 pin DIN adaptor lead. You can even connect an IPOD or your PC using the AUX input via a jack > 5 pin DIN lead if you wish.
