Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
It´s a lot of money, but in the same time it could be worth it! You can with HD upgrade get benefit of HDTV, HD-DVD and Blue Ray with a crisp detailed picture!...And i personally think that the BV6 have greater looks than the new BC6... Regards

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
Seems like a lot of money to upgrade a small screen which was not that great a picture to start with. I doubt HD is going to make it much better but am happy to be proved wrong by anyone who has tried it.

It will be a new processor - the screen remains the same.

Ok, that sounds great . I would love to use the bv6 as a pc screen, but upon today it wasn't a good choice because of the pixels... Nowadays it should be much easier to use it as a pc screen with the improved processor . Let's wait for the reviews...

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
I've tended to say that HD is a waste on anything below 32", even 40", but after having seen an HD signal on my (rather pathetic) little 17" Philips LCD at 'normal watching distances', I think it is of benefit on smaller screens.
However it's not a 'necessity', and doesn't offer anywhere near the difference you see on the larger screens. It's still better to watch IMO though...

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
Unless its "full" HD (1080) I would want to use a 23" or 26" HD panel as a computer monitor - 768 lines is basic 17" monitor resolution - blowing that up to 26" would be unacceptable for me for normal monitor use. As an aside, I've been shopping for a combined bedroom TV/computer monitor for my son. As far as I can see no one sells a 26" panel with full HD resolution (as explained above this is more for it's role as a monitor than a TV) although some will accept a 1080p signal and downscale it. There are 22" sets that have 1050 lines and so aren't quite full HD but will make a decent monitor - these also have picture in picture and picture against picture (i.e side by side) and include Freeview tuners. These can display PC input and TV simultaneously using the PIP modes. It must of course accept an HD signal as the next present is to be a PS3!

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
What about the connections. I supposse you need an HDMI connection to accept a HD source? Does the upgrade include a new connection? When I bought my BV6 a official B&O document circulated around saying that all BV6 produced after a centrain date would be HD ready, but this unfortunatly turned out to be untrue. I would still like to hear from somebody who actually got this upgrade done.

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
I had the upgrade done a few months ago and in my opinion it's well worth doing. The HD connections are component and a single DVI socket (located to the rear left of the BV6). I've been using it with an upscaling dvd player and Sky HD and there certainly is a vast improvement in the picture when using a hd source.

If a B&O isn't a possibility, then I see a lot of people using Samsung LCD TVs as computer monitors as well. Very good picture too! Sony also offer a really good 20" with 1 x HDMI, 1 x Component, 1 x VGA, 2 x Scarts & an RF input for both built in analogue and digital (Freeview) tuners. The Sony is IMO, the best TV under 26" excluding a B&O...

Yes the 20"" Sony MFM-HT205 is a good alternative 1690x1050 WSXGA 1600:1 contrast and 470cd/m2 and 6ms.. ! With double lamp panel instead of one it is true bright and good for PC like my Sony VAIO laptop.. And it have a very good RF decoder as well ... Regards

Unfortunately the Sony is only an Analogue tuner. The 22" models I've been looking at are the Samsung SM225MD and the soon to be released LG M228WD. Specs are pretty much the same, looks are fairly standard "PC LCD monitor" but I've struggled to find anything else that does it all. Samsung model is currently £299 in Argos As I said early, regardless of how well they display a TV picture I don't think a 768 vertical resolution cuts it as a monitor at this screen size (i.e. 22" and above) and therefore the 1050 resolution of these panels is definitely a requirement (slight shame its not full HD 1080 for the soon to follow PS3)

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
If I would buy a non B&O digital pc screen it would be a top of the line Neovo x-w22. It has a special patented glass panal like B&O, multiple dvi-sockets and a s-video socket for tv-in . It isn't as cheap as the Sony or the Samsung (850,- Euro's), but the specs are suburb and it looks more classy http://www.neovo.nl/products/X-W22.html

a nicer photo of the 17", because the 22" photo looks a bit cheap on the previous photo http://katalogmonitoru.cz/img/neovo-x-20-1.jpg
You can also mound it at your wall (this is a 17" version btw)
One day, I will put the Neovo screen inside the Bv-6

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
OK - but the Neovo is just a monitor not a monitor/TV. Anyhoo I think I have diverted the original thread on the BV6 enough

Re: Beovision 6 HD upgrade
Peter, if there is a new processor is there then the possibility to have PinP for BV6-22? Or is PinP not linked to the processor? Regards beoraki
