Beosound 1 gives up the goose! [:O]

Today our dealer kindly lent us a purple BS1 that we want to buy (because it's discounted ex-demo) and it's gorgeous i love it, it's a shame i haven't had a chance to hear it, it appears to have s#!t itself.

When the power is connected the little red light flashes and when i press cd or radio the flashing stops. The aerial moves up and down and the cd player opens, but thats all it will do! It was supposed to have a pin number which i've tried but it doesn't respond when i type it. What could be wrong?! Is there a way of resetting it or has it really passed away? Sad I want to listen to it!

It sounds to me like perhaps you have an incorrect PIN.

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

Isn't there a master code or reset code? Sad

What does the 4 digit display show when you turn on the BS1? It should be 4 flashing squares that prompt you to enter the PIN.

You select the numbers with the Wind and Rewind Keys on the back of the device and use "Store" to proceed to the next digit.

When the pin is accepted the display should show the selected radio station or CD track.

In case your entered the wrong PIN more then three times.

There is the possibility of getting a master code but the procedure is rather complicated. Your local B&O dealer has to request the code

from Denmark. The master code is then sent via mail back to your dealer. So, you see it might take some time.

It was the pin being entered incorrectly by the previous user. Thanks everyone, it works now, except i think it needs to see a service technician as the radio frequencies are wrong and it doesn't pick up radio! I've been listing to CD's on it and wow the sound is great, only a little bit too much mid range and the woofer distorts at 58 onwards but it's such a cool little music player!

    Dave;

    Some other options:

If you plug an MP3, IPOD, DVD player, or even the stereo from your TV into the AUX socket on the bottom of the BS 1, you can amplify that music also.

You will need an inexpensive RCA to AUX cable connector from most electrican supply stores, or your B & O store. You can set your Beo 4 remote to include AUX, or do it manually on the back of the BS 1. Just press the two CD selection buttons at the same time until AUX is displayed.

A portable Home Theatre system,  if you will.

The band width is off. It starts at 00.0 but goes back through 199.9 skipping the 87.5 - 108.0. Never mind. Yes i have been listening to AM radio and SD's through the the auxiliary.

It's such an impressive little machine!

    Fair Dinkum.

It sounded as though it had a few problems for the store to iron out. On the subject of the
Antennae or Aerial, this is a delicate mechanism. You can stop it with your palm, and they can jam inside also. If yours was not working right, add it to the inspection list at the store.

Everything was fine, just the tuning of the radio wasn't working.

    Thanks
