    Lintronic and TiVO HD

Well, I'm at a loss... I have been trying to successfully program TiVO HD remote codes into a lintronic Box, and I can't seem to get it working perfectly, and I hope someone here can help. The codes on the Lintronic online Database don't work well at all, and when I program the tivoHD remote into Lintronic, the buttons behave the same way.. Let me explain:

Ideally one button press should be recognized as one button press, and a subsequent button press should be independent of the previous button press. It seems that when I TEST single TiVO HD codes one after another from the Lintronic screen, no matter how much time has passed before i TEST keypress one, keypress two's TEST results in an initial Keypress ONE result followind by a correct Keypress TWO result... let me illustrate.

I have programmed THUMBS UP and THUMBS DOWN keys into Lintronic.

When I select THUMBS UP from the Lintronic SCREEN, it sometimes results in a successful THUMBS UP on the television. Then, when I try and test THUMBS DOWN, it results in a THUMBS UP on the screen, I test Thumbs down again and now, correctly I see THUMBS DOWN on the Television... so somehow, for some apparent reason the lintronic relaying of the IR signals results in it "remembering" the previous keypress from the Tivo HD remote...

I have edited the repeats, even shortened the IR signals in lintronic, and can't seem to get it to work completely.

I am hoping someone on these forums has success and can help me.

    Sal,

Have you tried the controlling a different product with the Lintronics box ? You problem could actually be a problem in the Lintronics box.

If you have a second Lintronics box you could also monitor the transmitted IR signal from the first to see what is exactly being sent.

    Regards Keith....

Tivo is in BS3/BV9/BV7mk3 PUC list Yes - thumbs up

EDIT: You must add it to the PUClist!

    Keith,

I fail to see how this problem could be within the LinTronic box ?
    Please advise.

Your LinTronic box is not the problem.

I do not know all devices and you did not say who makes the TIVO or whether TIVO is brand name or typenumber ... I find two TIVO's in the database:
Both of them have the same commands so others must have the same problem as you, but never reported it. Maybe there is good reason.
Code 716 is a wellknown NEC code set using a straight forward code/timing. Different repeat patterns are seen.
    "I have edited the repeats"
Did you set the repeat to 1 ? This will only send the code once and not the repeat pattern.
We have seen the same problem in Apple devices. See: http://www.lintronic.dk/AppNote_Apple.pdf

He he he... next year, hopefully I won't have this problem, because I'll be getting a BeoTV again! But until then I have to have fun programming LinTronic.

Yes, different products work just fine, so I have isolated the problem to the TivoHD remote codes being put through the Lintronic box, and relayed.

The Lintronic recognizes the codes from all my remotes... the problem is when it is relaying the memorized codes from the TiVO branded TivoHD remote.

FYI: the TiVO is a TiVO branded "TiVOHD model" with the TiVOHD remote.

    Re: Lintronic and TiVO HD

    Sal,

I'll be interested in this for the future. I now have Tivo S2 and the Avant controls it just fine. BTW, one day playing, I used a Lintronic to control another Tivo S2 with a Beo4. That worked. I will be replacing one of my Tivos with a S3 soon, so let us know what you discover.

Have you sent the received codes to Michael at Lintronic for further analysis? If you haven't he's always helpful so you may want to try that.

The other option is to download a CCF file for Pronto, import/convert those to Lintronic and see if the behavior is any different.

    Re: Lintronic and TiVO HD

Michael from Lintronic and I have been exchanging emails today and he suggested a couple of things I try. I haven't yet had a chance to try it yet, but I'm looking forward to reporting on my progress. Probably tomorrow afternoon... I hope it works.

I never knew there were so many nuances to IR codes... BUT... since the your Avant controlled it fine, I am sure that there's a converter solution to be had.

I just can't imagine TiVO to be so "incompatible" as I am initially finding out.

    Re: Lintronic and TiVO HD

I believe that Tivo S3 codes are the same as S2. At least that's what users on the Sling Forums report.

Keep in mind that you'll have to map Beo4 commands directly to Tivo. This can get tricky. I recommend you program a Text mode in Lintronic and then do the mapping. This has worked great for me in order to control the AppleTV. Since Tivo codes are pretty simple, I'm almost certain that you can make this work for you.

Alternatively, you can try using the TV-Menu-Overlay equivalents from the Beo4, but this may get confusing, since you don't have the actual overlay.

And yes, IR can get awfully confusing. Specially Beo4. User simplicity requires system complexity I suppose.

BTW, some Tivo remotes can control two different Tivos. Just a thought.
