    DVD1 Type 2 - From When?

    A quick question :

The Mk2 DVD1 (4621). Does anybody know when this version started to ship? I have the chance to purchase a DVD1 (for what I consider to be a reasonable price), but from my research it seems the Mk2 is the one to go for.

    Thanks

This hit the market in July 2004. Probably debatable which is better , the Mk1 or the Mk2. The build quality deteriorated with time and the Philips ones probably have the better picture. The later ones do have a better menu system though rather than the incomprehensible Philips pictograms!

Well I was informed that the early one can suffer from problems with the drive mech. It costs around £200 pound to have it replaced.

    Is £350 for a Mk2 a good deal?

When you consider that you can get a DVD player from Tesco for £20 are any of the DVD1's a good deal?? You could buy one of these for every TV in the house and still have wads of change.

Ebay examples don't often make over £300 nowadays. The prices are dropping fairly quickly.
