    Problem with Beosound 3000

    I purchased a Beosound 3000 on eBay and due to faulty packing it unfortunately arrived with broken glass.  However, the bigger problem seems to be that it won’t power up.  When I plug it in, the doors work as they should (or I should say the sliders do, since the glass is broken), the lights go on, and the CD clamper lifts as it should.  But I can’t turn on the radio or play a CD, either by using the buttons on the unit or the remote (which I know works).  It’s not asking for a security code and I tried unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it in again.  No difference.  It was manufactured in 2002.

    Could it be a dead power supply even though the lights, doors, and clamper all work?

    Re: Problem with Beosound 3000

    Hi;

     It maybe that the display is disconnected. I had a BS3000 too, and I remember that it had a problem that when I pushed too hard the keyboard, the display will go off for a second. I send it for repair as it turned out to be a false contact in the display. It seems that it used to be a problem on Beosounds as my dealer was not surprised at all of the problem.

    If it's only the display, it should be able to playback music. Have you tried plugging loudspeakers to it?

    sounds like an option setting,

    press 'cd' on the beo4

    then hold the 'red' off button and whilst holding it press 'list'

    now press the number '1'

    the red light on the 3000 will then blink

    if it is that should do the trick

    Agree with Jay. Have you tried re=setting to option 1 as he suggests?

    Re: Problem with Beosound 3000

    I apparently managed to put it into option 1 as evidenced by the red light blinking.  But no luck after that.  I also tried plugging in headphones to see if it was just a display issue but there’s no sound.  And the CD won’t spin.  Looks like it’s time for a service visit. Thanks for your suggestions just the same.
