    VX5000 video heads?

Hi i just bought a VX5000 video (supposed to have a slight tracking problem!!).

On very close inspection i found the heads are shot and worn away.

Does anyone know if i can get a replacement head unit or does anyone have one going for spares??

    thanks

    mark

    Kind Regards, Mark

Unfortunately the Video Heads for this model are no longer available.

Also have a look at the thread HERE for more on the VX5000

    Regards Keith....

The VX5000 is made by Hitachi to a B&O design. There wasn't really a corresonding model that I am aware of. I would suggest asking Tim Jarman at Beocentral. He is fixing mine next week!

Hi, are you really sure, that the video heads are defect? I have had now several hundred VX recorders for repair and only 2 of around 600 had defect video heads... and i still have some dozen used and new drives on stock. The last price for a brand new videohead was around 230 Euro... if you really need a video head, here in Bogen/Germany are still some available :) Of course not sooo expensive...;)

That what looks like a worn/defect head are leaking eloctrolythic capacitors on the upper mainboard... there are around 120 of them in a VX recorder who need urgent replacement.

Tim suggests looking in particular at the capacitors on the capstan motor panel which gives all the symptoms of worn heads - costs pennies.
